no not rare at all tinman, were meant to be imported by Jamesons in roscrea 70's and 80's and closed around 87 i think.
they sold lots around here and alot still working on farms.
id say that i nearly know of 20 of them in the 20 miles to roscrea from me here.

Treemover and Marco can correct me if im wrong because they nearer to the home land of them and something tells me their fathers or relations owned them in the past.

Man outside borris in ossory has one. Nearly identical to the one in the picture here. Detroit diesel engine but whatever was wrong it couldn't be stopped for Dinner or the devil himself wouldn't start it again. First thing when it's cold no problem but once hot it has to be left running.

These were working in the area a year or two back looking for zinc .

Seen them up here this year too, you have to hand it to the americans for making strong stuff, even the plate is well made.

many good memories and stories of hesstons at silage here and around, the tune of a detroit engine under pressure would make a modern engine sound like a baby crying!

often thought of buying one if only for vintage at the right price.

I know the man who built it - its a pottinger Mex VI.
