Currently have a sheltering grove around the farm, Sitka spruce that has grown up and no longer provides shelter. I was thinking of cutting them and selling for fire wood. They are a pain for blocking gutters and shutes. Any ideas for a fast growing non shed variety? Cheers..

Laurel? Beech??

If you need a shelter belt, wont chopping the spruce to the ground leave you very exposed for years.
Would topping them be an idea, and maybe plant a hedge in front of them

Laurel is the cleanest shelter belt. Doesn't lose leaves and doesn't bring a green scum around the place
