The 1210 was a local to the rally tractor . It had had a good job done on it . David Brown's were never popular around here . No dealer nearby . Even though Massey Ferguson's were very popular , and lots of them were sold by either Tullamore Motor Works or Duthie Large in Athy . Both of which were 40 odd miles away .
Ford had George Jamieson in Roscrea , but my father bought the 5600 here New from JR Perry in Athy .
Paddy Delaney in Ballaghmore sold a lot of Universal 445s in the 1973 to 76 period . They sold Leylands for a while after that . Maybe as well as the Universals.
Cummins Garage in Rathdowney sold an awful lot of International tractors from the early 70s until they closed in 2001.
Sherrard were in Mountrath for a few years from 78 to 81 ish . They would have sold a few 2030 2130 3130 but not that many.
Lots of Porsche Algaier sold 1960 to 63 as they were assembled in Borris in Ossory at that time .

Good crowd considering the effect the previous couple of days rain . Tractor display was well back , as there was a big flood where they would be usually . River burst out where the music stage is , and portaloos turned over there. So the stage was a Curtain sider to one side. Car park where some of the campers were parked was like the Battle of the Somme. Here's some pics.

Di you own it yourself ??

An early 900 , with a short draw bar and older type pick up . It seemed to have llittle work done ad not to have been used in years.


The International 1055 was a real bitsa tractor when you examined it . A 4 cyl bonnet, with a bit of another bonnet behind . The roof could have been anything , in a previous life....

What about Cartrack in Thurles for MF and Ossie Bennett in Portlaoise for Ford

There were a certain amount of MFs that came from Cartrack . But there was a salesman in Tullamore Motor Works who was all one with a local contractor , who was buying a 165 or 188 every year or definitely every 2nd year . There were always local customers for the trade ins , or he might sell them a new tractor.
A few Lamourne cabbed 168s and early 290s around out of Cartrack.

An uncle of mine has a pre force Ford 2000 in a shed idle this 15 years , that 2 brothers a mile away bought new in Cartrack , because they bought a car there the year before. It was both their 1 st car and 1st tractor. The uncle bought it in Jamiesons when they traded it in June 1976 with 3130 hours for a new Fritz cabbed 2600.

I never remember anyone buying a Ford tractor from Ossie Bennett . I do remember being in the garage with my father as a chap , and he getting a cross put in a PTO shaft of a silage harvester.

Were Barlo in Thurles David Brown agent before or after Hourihans ? Did Hourihans get the Ford agency around 82 or 83 , when Jamiesons went to Fiat ? Jamiesons closed in 1985 . I think. Maybe late 84 .
 
Hourihans were there before Barlo, Barlo never sold tractors in Thurles to the best of my knowledge only in Clonmel, Cahir House would have been Ford.

My uncle bought 2 MF135's from Cartack, think the salesman was Jimmy Whelan, the second 135 is still in the locality as it was sold after he died, my father bought a Mk1 Ford Escort from Ossie Bennett, both long departed this world, Cahir House were selling a lot of 4wd selene conversions with winches for forestry work and to the ESB, back then very few manufacturers offered 4wd tractors.

I mightn’t have put up the photo , but it is a phenomenal piece of artwork , on a family of heroes who suffered devastating losses in the persuit of their dreams. I was telling @Arthur about the truck. It made quite an impression on me . I wouldn’t like to have paid for the paint job.:scared:
