My lap top is connecting with my wireless router ok but it tells me local only and will not let me connect to internet the router is working fine as ive tried another laptop its this laptop thats the problem i think im convinced its something to do with vista but i might be wrong ? ive restarted it a few times tried every thing i know and im using it in my office which is cold with a wire connected anybody got any ideas how to fix this problem ??
is your wireless turned on on the laptop ,let it try to connect then click diagnose connection problems ,my netbook turns its wireless off every time its switched off and have to turn it on manually
when i right click on wi fi icon theres na diagnose and repair option , you tryed that 1
Had exactly the same problem with Vista. I eventually decided that when it says local only, it is because your internet connection has dropped out. Nothing to do with your router or pc, it is the line at fault.
That's what I reckon anyway.
The only reason it says local only is because it can, the same would have happened with XP but you just wouldn't see it.
vista was known to have a myriad of problems, this is possibly one of them. Its working fine pluged into a wire and my other lappy worked of the router and it said internet its window s 7, this one is saying local only but it works hard wired and another lappy works of the router so it got to be this laptop ???hasnt it ????:confused1:
