Nozzles and water and speed

Very impressive. I can’t understand how they can be low drift while having a small droplet?
I’ve watched the Guardian Air nozzles in terms of their coverage on leaves, it doesn’t look great to me but they still seem to do the job.
I was wondering that too
I got vp flat fans and although rated to 5 bar anything over 3 and you got to watch the wind

Currently deciding what nozzles to put on sprayer. Can fit up to 3 sets, currently using 035 guardian airs and will definitely fit a set to the new sprayer. Mainly spraying cereals with a small amount of grassland spraying, although I think I might pick up a bit more grassland work from neighbours going forward. Aim to travel around 9 to 10 km/hr. What other nozzles should I be looking at fitting?

I would add a set of flat fans especially for herbicide in good conditions or grassland

Are they all basically the same or are there particular models better than others?

Whats the optimum working pressure with flat fans?

All things being equal a ceramic flat fan and a non ceramic one should have the same performance but the ceramic one should last longer. The hole through which the water exits the nozzle is made of ceramic material which is much much harder than plastic. Powders are said to cause wear to nozzles.

@gone recommended a flat fan to me when we were purchasing.

For cereals only I would go GA like you have, Defy 3D https://www.syngenta.co.uk/media/asset/defy-3d-nozzles and an extended pressure range ceramic flat fan like http://teejet.it/english/home/produ...r-teejet--extended-range-flat-spray-tips.aspx
If spraying broadleaf crops like OSR or Beans I would go with Albuz CVI twins instead of the flat fan https://www.agrotop.com/en/print/products/nozzles/albuz/albuzR-cvi-twin/
If doing a lot of grassland spraying you will need a larger size nozzle for bigger water volume and an air induction ceramic flat fan is what I find best, the Lechlor ID 120-05c is also 90% stripe compliant https://www.kramp.com/shop-gb/en/1036787/2869472/1458335/ID312005C+ID3+120°air+ind+nozzle,+cer

Thanks so much @gone for the reply. Could be talking to a lot of reps before i’d get advice half as concise and useful as your post

Have lechler idk nozzles on the new sprayer and getting on very well with them. It’s what came on it and I kept them, running blue 110s at 120l/ha at speeds from 12 to 16 km with pressure from 3.2 to 4.5 and getting great results. An agronomist that walks crops for a few people around commented that any crops we had sprayed were exceptionally clean compared to other crops he advises on around. I know we would all be spraying at the same times . I would be pushing the limits on speed and coverage but seem to getting very good results, would be also be pushing the limits with wind speed some days . Also running brown 110 idk for grassland at 300l/ha with excellent results but forward speed is back to 10k at around 5bar

You thinking of buying it for the trial plots John? Looks like it could spray narrow enough for them:scratchhead:

Just make sure in is in test eeeer

Can’t decide if that photo makes me laugh or angry!

There’s nothing happening behind the tractor, they’re blocked. Going too fast too, the boom is bouncing a lot.

The outside nozzle on the rhs is spluttering.

Final nail in the coffin is that there’s a herd of fine continental cattle still grazing in the field.....

It's lads like that is the reason we have sprayer tests. Bet he doesn't have one or a cert:scratchhead:

Ah Cork, he's only watering the grass to make it grow :scared::scared::ban:

I used the same nozzle on a calm day recently. Was targeting volunteers and brome in WOSR. Super looking coverage.
Not for a breezy day though!
They are STRIPE 50% certified, but nowhere near as good as any air induction nozzles like the Guardian Air (Amistar), but still well ahead of standard Flat Fans.
