Couple of questions before I give my reply.

Expected workload in terms of hours and actual jobs?
Future plans?
Current tractor to do the work and year?
Budget?
Ireland or UK?
Loader required?
Mechanical skills?

Workload about 500hrs a year mowing,slurry etc.
I have a 100hp tractor that needs a lot of work not economic to repair its 1989
Stretch the budget to 12k ish
Need a loader but not right away
Pretty handy at the mecanical end of stuff.

Probably best with a 7840 then as you probably want to move up in years also.

Wouldn't touch the MF's you mentioned - is a 399 an option?

Landini 10000 are not easy to find.

399 is overpriced and a bit lightish for what i want more leaning towards the 7840 myself drove one over the wkend over 9k hrs on it stiil tight as tuppence.

Another vote for a 7840 here. A neighbour has a turbo one with close to 14000 hours on it and has been totally reliable. Putting out about 135 hp at the pto, and is an animal to pull.

another vote for the 7840 and if you can get a turboed one all the better, i used to drive an sl dp turboed one a few year back and it was an absolute animal

7840 would be a good bet, but dont be put of the massey you mention, they are cracking tractors aslong as you make sure you either get a dynashift or a standard box one but only a 16 speed not a 32, the 32 speed startds were very troublesome and gave them models a bad name, but the other boxs are grand.

Hadn't realised that one was turboed - it explains somethings

Amazing all the one colour :lol:

Well to be fair the Mk IIs are good machines, they have a shuttle, have a bit of power and arent a bad place to spend a day. They are also good value for money IMO... but he who pays the piper and all that......

id be going for the 140 out of that bunch.

She wouldnt be the cleanest of them tho, but thats not to say she would be a bad yoke
