broadband speeds

all week my broadband has been slower than dailup an 270-300kbps
today is between 3700-4500 kbps

mines pi$$ poor since i moved to this house . the houses are all the same round here under 1meg but were only 500m from the exchange:confused1:
on the up side its still lightning fast compaired to dial up

i bought a payg dongle so i could us internet while moving house it works no to bad in this house but in some areas its crap , still not as good at the phone line though

There are two things you you need to know about broadband speed. The first is how up to date your exchange is. The second is how congested it is. i.e. the Contention Ratio. These are two sites you need to look at.

Your ping is low though, 36 ms. I think you probably have a contention issue and a distance issue. Still over 2 meg, its faster than a lot!!

This is just as important as bandwith
