Dump trailer bogies.

The main reason would be stability when tipping. Springs would compress when tipping on unlevel ground and send it over. A bogie won't

Red rock had Rams that pushed down on the rear of the rocking beams, you can have the same on springs, reality is bogies are cheap simple and work, they just wear fast and aren't classed as suspension.

We have a Ken Wotton farm dump trailer and it has them rams as well. They support the chassis very well when tipping.

They're more stable on banks/rough going than sprung axles. When the trailer leans over the weight is more one one side than the other so the springs will compress leading it to lean even

Well I bought it anyway. Turned it over and took apart one of the bogies this evening. Brass bushing is knackered and a nice bit of wear on the pin aswell. Bogies themselves don't seem to be strangled or bent so shouldn't be a massive job to put it right

Looking a bit better now. New pins and bronze bushings put in the bogies, new brake shoes and brake rams, new led lights and a sandblasting and a lick of paint to tidy it up a bit. Just need to get a sticker kit and new hoses made up now and it's done.
