€2.8 million is a fine weekly top up for our processors..20c into UK market would be shy of a million a week. Be lovely to be getting it, but not to be.

Here's a thought, 20 cent a kilo extra to the farmer should only add 20cent a kilo at the supermarket shelf as all the other costs are already in the system, it's hardly going to break any consumers pocket so where is the thing gone so wrong.
I'm no fan of Goodman, but unless you're trying to be sensationalist there's no mention of turnover in the article you linked and as a man of your intelligence well knows there's a big difference between turnover and profit. To suggest any meat processor is making nearly €5k from every animal they slaughter is reckless in the extreme in the current climate. I'd say the turnover from the Blackrock Clinic alone would make your eyes water. This all comes back to the argument about who is getting which the biggest slice of the pie.

I don't know how much of that was from meat as he owns a lot of property, but turnover last year was 2.9 billion.
Annual kill is 1.5 million animals.
Abp has between 25-30% of the market.
So between 375000 and 450000. Let's take 400000 as a round number.
Right so by those maths, 2.9 billion divided by 400000 animals leaves a value of E7250 on every animal slaughtered.
Now obviously this is flawed because he processes meat elsewhere. Let's assumed he musters another 200000 cattle in UK and elsewhere. Even then its 4830 per animal.
When you break down the maths like that it doesn't make pleasant reading does it.

Wouldn't we all.. I'd like to get the actual figure and break it down.
That’s nett profit after everyone involved got a pay cheque. Which would include a lot of larrys family.Blackrock Clinc profit 2017 €9.5m http://www.top1000.ie/blackrock-clinic
Hermitage Clinic profit 2017 €2.7m http://www.top1000.ie/hermitage-clinic
Galway Clinic profit 2017 €5.15m https://www.irishtimes.com/business...at-galway-clinic-drop-44-5-to-5-15m-1.3759252
There's over €17m in profit straight away. God knows where else the money is coming from. If we assume he makes €100m/yr from beef processing, at 600k animals that leaves a profit of €166 per animal. I'd say that's close enough. I said the same thing in a different thread lately with similar figures, it's all about scale.
Source?Back to real business, this must be the most talked about beef rise in price over the last 10 yrs. Everyone has the story, it's like it will be the makings of us
Gross margin out over the counter, lots of people and companies to be paid before you get to a profit figure. May not be as hilarious as you think of a profit marginOn prime uk spec steer and heifers there is a gross margin of 100%. Excluding 5th quarter.
35€ is hilarious. Ffs.
Source?
I've yet to see any media outlet carry such a story. All I've seen to suggest an increase is hearsay on social media.Every media outlet and beef person is talking of the imminent rise, I'm just happy to see cattle leaving the farm

Stop..you ll have us doing a fundraiser for him nextLarry doesn't own 100% of those facilities you mention. Also have to take into account the UK and Polish operations as well as the processing of offal etc.
Not to forget the rental from places such as the HSE HQ and Bank of Ireland's former HQ. And sure isn't he a large farmer too and we are all millionaire's :scratchhead:
I thought that was what we have been doing for years.......Stop..you ll have us doing a fundraiser for him next
