I would safely say that there is more lost nowadays than there was when they had no machinery. They didn't know any different but hard work, and they stayed at it. Rearing it, ( little hand built stacks that get it off the damp bog). Now people are possibly more likely to take the easy option, and hope it can be got the easy way.
Brucey Thom passed one of the two brothers that own that machines yard last summer ans saw the amount of turf was there. There could be more in the other lads yard. 50 people wouldn't save it by hand if they gave 3 months at it.
That pile of turf was so high OSI have had to map it!!

Was it Nathan that tempted you up [emoji12]

My co pilot might not have been entirely against the idea , considering it was a journey of 94 miles to it.

Not a clue, Scottie. I am sure if you got onto the committee , they might have a contact no. The Tractor hadn't a number plate on it, that I could see. Dieselpower and myself would know the man sitting on the front wheel of the tractor beside it, and he would have a large tractor collection including at least 1 Steyr that I know of, but it would be an Orange colour and either late 60s or early 70s.
Curlers Garage in Kiltormer, Co Galway sold the world of those tractors. Not sure who sold them back here in the midlands? Good to hear you are getting a bit further in your search. I didn't have any joy in the IVETA insurance brokers, as they reckon it's against the rules to give out vehicle owners details to other people.

A few from yesterday. Trip down WestClare area. I know now where 240s go to retire. Fabulous scenery.

Was expecting a query or even 2 on the alloy . Taken outside the hotel @ Spanish point. Its a pimped Range Rover, range rover isnt on the bonnet. KAHN. 10 D reg. Saw another similar in the UK a month ago, on personalised plates though. Never saw one till then.

Awesome sight, the Cliffs Of Moher. Fabulous day for it.

I thought you didn't like heights jf 850 , remember some comment about a thick pair of socks being enough for you, I find them scary just to look at.

I did say that about the thick socks ! I dont like heights but they are some sight. Was there maybe 15 years ago , before they "did it up ". Some crowd, but isnt it officially a " wonder of the world " now ?

It was listed on the Lonely planet guide along with the Giant's Causeway, Newgrange and the Rock of Cashel.

You have that scaffolding up for slme lenght of time around the Rock of Cashel. Did you overshoot the budget ?.

I didnt go within 15 ft of the edge , up at the end where there is no fence. Some people could wash their hands in the sea., if only they had 600 ft arms, they were so near the edge. I think most of the Italian population was there yesterday.

Several signs for the Samaritans there, so some poor souls must have gone over.

i dont know a big pile about kahn conversions, but what i do know is its colossal money to get it done.
not really meant for the roads in this country tho..

Curiosity had got the better of me, about 20 minutes ago, and I googled it myself. People with more money than sense, would possibly sum up their target market.
