Low Loaders?

Could you hang a length of chain between the wheels (bit like a scraper) to stop bricks and stones getting stuck in?

The dumpers next door have a swinging bar between the wheels, never seen it on a road going vehicle though.

If you need single wheels and quick what about a Bailey from Agri -Linc? Bit more expensive but you only live once..............

I emailed about this one Saturday morning https://www.irelandsfarmmachinery.co.uk/stock/new/trailers/bailey/bailey-15t-low-loader/10084/

Didn’t like ringing as a bank holiday.

Got a quote on a PF today, very similar price but 8 weeks lead time, also enquired about this https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/292807573145

It won’t fit 19.5s as is,he hasn’t got back with a lead time on one with, look a solid trailer with a deep channel section on the side rail.

That Gardiner looks a bit like a copy of a JPM:scratchhead:

Will a tandem axle be ok for what you need? One here on singles, but think they are very low 22.5's

https://chippenhamfarmsales.com/product/jpm-25ft-19-tonne-low-loader/

I started out looking at the tri axle 21t carry barford and then sort of decided I didn’t really need to carry more than 15t,half the job is buying something with a good 2nd hand value after I’m done with it.

Yes the one above is on 455/40-22.5s not sure of height but they look well.

Nope,my brother couldn’t possibly let me spend £10k plus on a trailer :no:so he’s going to build me one.

Finding the correct underslung suspension is proving the hardest job, will start making enquiries again after silage is in the clamp.

Now this will depend on budget. Id imagine if you got on to granning, they might sell you axles, suspension and all. By and large, it could be pricey. Just a thought

I emailed granning and they never replied, maybe I should email the Irish contact?

I’ve granning axles on this.

If all else fails I’ll cut them off and use them.

Check out Distag they’re based in Tullow but they’ve people on the road covering ireland, I found them very good to deal with.
It seems most of the trailer and tank brands seem to be using they’re stuff now.

Thanks just had a look,I had it in my head to go air suspension as I’ve an abundance of axles, probably easier to buy an underslung leaf set up and fit to my axles.

Ordered a underslung kit to fit 127mm round axle off these, they rang last week to say it was in but haven't picked it up yet. Looks to be the same as in the link above.

Helps if you put the link in of course.........................:rolleyes2:

What sort of price?
£800, thought it seemed enough at first but work it out per wheel and it ain't bad, put the spring at £100 and that leaves the hangers, clamp, U-bolts and tie bar at a another £100. All new and ready to weld on is worth a lot! I'd better go and fetch it next week, i'll do a pic of what it looks like if you want.
Think the 445 19.5 wheels and tyres off British rubber were £190 each (part worn tyre). Had a couple of used axles fairly cheap so that's sorted the running gear for less than £2k and up to commercial spec.

I've got a spring set in the shed that came from tyremart, same as the HS100 in the distag link, it was £870 about 18 months ago.

I prefer the multileaf type springs to the commercial type because they are more stabe, and easier to swap between over or underslung.

Or there is this type, as used by most Irish manufacturers on low loaders, choice of u-bolts, £716 inc vat for set with 5 inch rounds http://www.autoandtrailer.com/18000kg-tandem-8leaf-spring-kit/

We bought thisPhoto_2019-06-09_08-42-12_AM.png tri axle Hebrst in 2009 in Mcullagh Machinery think was 9k at time was few years old. But have to say as good a low loader I've ever seen. Tyres and floor only things ever replaced. And it's still going strong today a lick of paint and be like new.
Serious well engineered and the hydraulic ramps are a Godsend. Must check but could be 18years old. Dont make sh#t like they used to .

I emailed them and they asked how many I wanted, they never quoted after so will chase up again.

Granning want £725 for similar and a whopping £1775 for air suspension arms.
A mate picked it up for us and he asked about kit to go under a silage trailer, £450 for a 16 ton capacity, I can't hardly see that it would be of the type I had for that price. More probably it's for the type with just a spring and no drag link.

Is yours the 24t set up?
