All maize Nash, I just spray out a few pathways for access

Planted the maize plots today. 27 varieties under plastic, replicated twice. A few without plastic too.

How do you harvest and measure results ?

The plots are a given length so we know the area.
Harvest with conventional forage harvester into the Smyth trailer we got last year. Bucket on a long stick takes a sample (for DM & Starch). The trailer has weigh cells which give the fresh yield of the plot.

Same locally. The yellowness is almost uniform in crops around here. All crops that were under plastic that I've seen

It's all under plastic around here. I passed one field tonight which has some docks in it and they are higher than the maize

It needs some heat and fast!

The main reason I wouldn't be selling grain at the moment is not the rain across the main maize growing areas in the USA, but the very low temps there.

first pic is from 14th June last year, second photo was taken last night the 14th too same field and variety, this years crop was sown two weeks earlier, it’s very clean, some other local crops are very dirty and will need to be sprayed again.

That looks like a king compared to around here!

Maize is very quick to compensate once it gets heat, if it were mine I wouldn't be worried yet.

Was it you nash i was talking to on the phone friday because i was asked / told the very same question by the person i was talking to about all the maize he has seen on his travels was yellow..

It wasn't me anyway

The week of heat has turned it inside out, looks good in general now.

It’s an amazing crop the way it responds to heat, if it stays this way it should be a good crop with the moisture that’s in the ground.

Mine went in start of May, very slow during late May early June and started turning yellow, but rocketed outa it last 10days, around 2ft high now.
