N levels in grass for silage.

With the hot weather our (pit) silage fields are not bulking well. Simply shooting to head and losing quality quick.

We decided that the best corse of action might be to test N levels and if acceptable cut and bale the grass for store cattle.

Test came back today.

Test 1. 500mg/kg
2 and 3 250 mg/kg

Now everywhere I look it says 0.25% or less is acceptable.
Does 250 mg/kg translate to 0.25% ????

No, by my maths it's 0.025%

250mg = 0.25g 1kg = 1000g
(0.25÷1000)% = 0.025%
Ideal!
Safe enough then!

Found an article explaining it in fresh weight terms as we got the results.
Seems anything under 1500 mg/kg is safe

That works out at 0.15% (0.25% would be 2500mg/kg)
