Newest projects.... tw25 and tw35

Small update lads,

Got myself two John Deere 6000 series hitches. Took one apart the weekend and dropped it to a man to start the butchering process to make it fit the tw25.

Will need a few parts for it and the main pin at the back is a bit wore so migh Bush it up while it’s apart. It’s push out but welded closed for some reason. I will just make it hydraulic release and forget about the push out.

Ordered 2 new wing mirrors aswell as got paint for the old ones but after taking the rubber off , I realised there rotten.

Also one of the lads that’s handy at fiberglass took the battery cover to tidy it up. Will look well with a drop of paint

by the time you,re finished with labour do you think you,lll save much compared to say a plain dromone hitch ?

Only paid about 270 for each hitch . , with any of them Deere hitches it takes some cutting to make them fit. A brand new hand hitch is 1000 plus vat and not as strong built so for what it’s going to do I think I’m saving anyways . New dromone hitches for tw’s can’t be got I’m told

Small update lads, cleaned a few smaller parts and got mirrors fitted.

Got a tip fitted to the exhaust and wasn’t happy at all. Bought another tip of Steve cowle in the uk which the the same bore and angle on it as original. So fitted that and painted the exhaust. 6A932F69-2A5C-44C8-9178-6DF284208F59.jpeg E64C03B0-2B5A-4D19-8B7E-32825F5D851B.jpeg

Thanks to @Skimmer for listening to me badger him while welding up the hitch for me. Made a super tidy job of it Made a new plate to mount on the tractor. Then I made a mistake of the drop arm length and made bits of them , so made up another set and it’s working perfect now.

Took it out to warm it up and stuck it on the subsoiler for a while. Then brought it home

Stuck the 25 into the back of the shed till after harvest. I wanted to do some hard work to bed the engine in. But it didn’t work out, so otherwise it would have been ticking around . 868F7447-F576-4CF1-9932-4F4A36294216.jpeg
Brought the tw35 down then and started pulling bits of that.

First job was to take of the right door and swap the lock and bits onto a better replacement. Also fitted a set of steps as the ones on it had the bottom step hacked off .

Good few small Leaks to fix in this , no major mechanical work . Went at the lower linkage pins , as want to change the seals in lower torsion bar. After that will tackle the pto shaft seals.
Needs a lot new hoses and a few steel pipes.

Small update, done the lower link seals on the tw35, put new seals in and left the old ones in also , put in a spacer as one was missing. Took a lot of squeeze it back together but no leaks.

Done the pto oil seal to, no wonder it was leaking as the old seal was way wrong and just fell out.

Tractor wouldn’t let diesel to the bottom tank, turns out there was 2 inches of black tar like crap in the tank. So up to a neighbor and used his hot wash to get it out, also took the sender from the bottom tank. That was full of dirt aswell

That’s the crap running down the side of the bucket!
Fitted a set of weights to the tw25 aswell , great skills of @Skimmer again. Able to look at my drawings that include a mix of inches , cm and mm . I fitted a tm weight carrier , gave the weights and carrier a wire brush and a quick blow of paint .

Sending it away to get left door straightened , fix a dint on the back and maybe respray the lot.

Then will do the brakes on the tractor, half axle seals , few leaky pipes and will spray the rims myself .

8730 is back in the shed to spray the rims , mudguards , new mudguard skins. And fix a small leak that is annoying me. A tidy up after all the work it got before

pull the 35 out of the shed to give it a good wash before I start fixing oil leaks and sort a few bad wiring jobs.

I have the wheels and mudguards home of the 8730 waiting to go back on. I’m waiting for the wheel nuts and other bolts to be zinc plated , when I get them back I can finish of that tractor

on the tw35, the cab is nearly done Few small jobs to do and looking into getting a padding kit fitted. The panels are with the spray man now , they have to be done next with the rims. Slow process.

Who do you get to spray them, thinking of getting the 7810 touched up.

philip gaffney near new ross is at them, seen good few tractors he done and the finish is serious. I told him I only wanted a handy job done to the cab as wa s just to tidy it up. the finish he has done is super.
