Recommend a 3/4 drive air gun

After reading through this thread I decided I'd be better buying a decent 1/2 inch gun instead of a cheap 3/4.
So went and got myself this.

Some guys on here don't like the sealey stuff but for all I'll really be using it I'm sure it'll be grand. Has good specs too, 950lb/ft

I didn't pay what the sticker there says ;)

Looks like the beta one went for £200 quid there too btw

well, he done well if he knocked 60 quid off the sticker price.
even if he knocked the 93 off it, your still 500 odd Nm short....:whistling::lol:

i can get you all the beta guns you want for £130+v hi.

I didn't know you sold them, ah well deal's done now

Revisiting this thread as I need to get a new air impact gun as old one has packed up.
I know tinman is a fan of the Beta
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Beta-1927P-
and he is a man that seems to know what he's talking about and I would value his opinion but I came across this Nitrocat and was wondering if anyone on the forum has owned or used one
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-2-Drive...1200K-Aircat-Nitrocat-1200k-NEW-/400426262995
It seems to have impressive specs and looks to be reasonably priced The Beta seems to vary in price from £200 to £400 on ebay but at least it can be purchased from the UK the Nitrocat is only from US suppliers or maybe I haven't looked hard enough for an Irish or UK supplier.

cheers for the compliment at least, but ive a lot to learn yet hi.

i never heard of that stuff before tbh, but the biggest thing to take the gloss off it will be the customs charge about a week after you get the gun.

iirc JohnBoy was on about getin one, he might shed some light on it.
facom are the only other ones bar the one there in your link that come up to that kind of torque.

maybe try m and l autoparts in omagh, ask for nigel, he shouldnt be too dear for the beta.

The yanks seem to rave about the nitro cat alright, but the specs on the beta are better.

I've been saying for months I'm getting myself one for christmas. Today is the closest I got to actually pricing around for them. It's reallllllly high on my list of things to do tomorrow :)

hows that man fairing out with price?

CP 3/4" here. Doesn't get much use but does the job when asked.

Hadn't got it long when rear JD wheel fell on it and snapped the casting clean in two at the handle. That wasn't a happy day but at least it was the gun and not me.

i dont have a good quality 3/4 gun here, but i have the 1/2 and the 1", there is a cheap sealey that was bought for me one x mas about 15 yrs ago, it dose any of the middle sizes if im stuck but id use the 1" more, altho its the saw type one.

i have a king tony 1/2 stubby one here and i find it invaluable, fits way more places than the longer snouted 1/2 guns.
it hasnt got as much poke as the 1/2 cp i have but id use it way more.

now, its also possible that its too handy, i was pulling the bolts out of a brake calliper a few weeks ago with it on a jeep.
whatever way i was holding it in a split second as i run the bolt out she backed the gun with my finger on the back of it into a seam on the chassis, jesus it was sore.
i wouldnt mind, i sat there for a bit wonder4ing how i was going to get out of it as i couldnt run her to forward as my finger was in the way.
i thought about ringing someone for a second too until i realised there was just enough play to pull the caliper round a gee hair which was enough to let me out.

there is a first time for everything they say.

Right, did some ringing around and a fresh shot of googling

all prices include vat and delivery

http://www.ebay.ie/itm/BETA-TOOLS-1...3?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_212&hash=item41793683d9 €232
http://www.mlautoparts.co.uk/ €253
http://www.efox.ie/tools.php?designation=1927P €374
the one on e bay isnt dear is it.
for 20 quid would you be better closer to home if you had to hand it back i wonder.:001_unsure:

as usual fox's are about as far out as a light house.

Good work you saved me the bother of ringing around.
Its a no brainer M&L Autoparts are the best at that kind of money I presume they send stuff down south of the border and as Tinman says if there are any problems they aren't that far away.

Yeah but I've been to the dentist, two fillings and a cleaning, dont want to talk to anyone, feeling sorry for myself so had some instant retail therapy :)

Most of their feedback seems to be from UK buyers buying beta tools so looks promising, plus I've a polish lad sitting 10 feet from me if we need to get shirty with anyone :)

Omagh may as well be poland from here.

Now onto sockets.

I have a grand laser set but it only goes to 24mm. I know I need 27, 30 and 32mm anyway. not sure what other sizes I need beyond that. There's not much sets with bigger 1/2 inch sockets in them.

most of em are hub socket sets with a couple of randomer sizes thrown in. Genius are supposed to be an alright brand according to a quick scan of the garage journal.

If I buy individual ones, any suggested brands in impact sockets that have a decent price/quality balance?

i have impact ones here but id hardly ever use them tbh, they are too bulky so i use the ordinary sockets.
its not in the manual but ive never had one split on an air gun yet..
mind you, i havnt been shooing 1700nm into them tho...
