Silage 2018

I thought HC had packed in the silage contracting, or at least that was what the jungle telegraph was saying. HC's missus and an uncle of mine's missus would be sisters.

He only does 3 or 4 jobs now but he has cut back on the jobs he was cutting on the past few years. In his day he cut a lot of silage. I reckon that I was the youngest driver there by around 40 years.

Last 100 of first cut wrapped up tonight. Never been done so early or so easy. The old man remarked last night as our contractor baled up land that we bought that 30 years ago the people that we bought it from would spend 2 weeks putting the 4 fields into laps and then into cocks of hay, pulling buts and tieing them down never having it in the shed until mid September.

Contractor was through it in an hour.
