Doubleshot . Blocked coulter . A lot slower developing than Barley. 120 units of Sul Can /acre. Sown with the Kockerling.NPK tilled in . It was tooo wet for the Horsch to work.

Tillage Radish holes remnants of the seven way cover crop mix . Doubleshot Spring Wheat sown on the 19th April with the Kockerling . It got a scratch with the Horsch Terranno.

Maybe it is I don’t know, what do you use and what are your yields, we would have a 3 year average a share over 4t/ac and would normally go a small bit higher than that with N.

A small control miss spraying the Doubleshot. It shortened it with a small amount of CCC . I was afraid being late sowed it would not tiller .

Doubleshot. It will be hard to keep the Ski Chalet and luxury yacht out of April sown spring wheat and the Beans are not going to keep the Beach house in the Maldives.

My one field of spring wheat seems to have good potential, down 19th April I think, will be 2 sprays, clean as a whistle, growth reg really evened up the weaker tillers And now have a nice dense canopy. Headlands are poorer / missing in some patches, which will hold back yield.

Every morning when I let up the blind I make a mental note to myself not to late sow spring wheat where I can see it before I get my breakfast.
The agricultural and land reclamation history of the field is visible in the patterns.

Took the old helicopter up for a spin before I had it back to the finance company. This field does not look as bad from the ground . Prior to the famine it was a lake bottom and certainly flooded in winter . The foot ball field looks a bit dry .

Cutting the Spring Wheat. The best of it is doing 1.75 tonne/ acre . There are green strawed bits that are probably doing over 2 tonne but not enough of them . It is over 80kg/ hL undried so it might yield more .

Cut wheat today, nothing baled or weighed, but it looks like being around the 3t mark at 18% moisture, bushel on sample this morning was 73kph. 2 spray programme, so far from a disaster, ok swarth of straw but always find it hard to predict how wheat will bale up.

How did Chilham fare out this year? Will it make the recommended list? Would current spring varieties be a better option than fast developing winter varieties like cellule for early spring sowing? @CORK

Haven’t seen any trial results but the feedback from the seed growers is good relative to the other varieties.

To be honest, up to the 1st days of March, I’d prefer a winter variety from a yield point of view.

Its rotation mostly. I am sure there will be a few frustrated dairy men locally when they see it.

Sowed Chilham wheat & Isabel oats around the wheat & oat plots this afternoon.
Heavy showers making things sticky, more like autumn.

No roller will be used and so far one crow has joined the rookery in the sky
