The older masseys

Weren't the 8100 series Massey a bit of a pup?. You rarely see one with high hours because they never kept going long enough to clock up hours. Endless hyd problems are something along those lines I think. The 8200 series were the replacement and everything the 8100 should have been.

The 8100s hadn't a great name afaik. The contractor over near where you have your tillage had a couple of them I think. He is gone more or less all NH now , but would have had a lot of 2640s etc years ago. An 8100 would possibly OK with an owner operator , such as @Iggy .

The 61 and 81 series's of Massey's hadn't a great name around here anyway. A local contractor had a 8140 and it was a fine looking tractor and that was all it was seemingly. The 62 and 82 series were far better machines.

There is an 81 series tractor on a big arable farm near us. Fine beast and minded like a baby, plough hundreds of acres and draws a lot of grain. Would be great men to mind a machine though and Massey men out and out.

A few 6170s and 6180s and 2 x 6150s near here, very few 62s , and lots of 6480s. Several have bought the 2nd 61 , so they mustn't be afraid of them.

He still has one 8100. Not sure exactly which one but it's a big old lump of a tractor when your up beside it. He likes it but concedes it wasn't MF's finest hour when they introduced that range. He has a 2640 or 60 on a grain dryer and the hours on it are unkown.

6160 and 6150 had the odd gremlin here , the preslect shuttle was changed on the 60 within a month of new under an upgrade scheme . In-fact the skeleton of the 50 is still local yet on a diet feeder.

Hasn't @mixed fleet got one of those bigger Masseys?

An 8250 I think!
Yes indeed, she's alive and well .
Could do with some rubber .
It's a fair old beast, funk powershift
Great brakes , stability, steering, loads of Valmet power, build quality is good
Heavy pulling is it's gig.
Cons.
Gearbox is easy to use but it's a poor set-up . When shifting thro the gears the lag is uneven, some change quickly , some don't .
Sheer bulk of the tractor makes it unsuitable for many jobs.

Is that an off the shelf extension on the diesel tank filler?

Very Nice.
