Trailer brake question.

would he of had hyd brakes on the tractor he was using it on, or did he have a convertor fitting from the tractor spools.:whistling:

was he drawing on wild steep ground.

Not sure about hyd brakes might have been using spools it was only a jd6930 do they do such fancy things as brakes?:lol: Its on dump trailer was clearing a site for new shed tipping in same field they were digging and next field pretty flat and no chance to build any speed up. Didn't notice any real signs of overheating although will have another look tomorrow

Hijacking the thread a bit here but has anyone got a logical explanations as to how a trailer can go out on hire with good brakes and come back with the rams stopping quarter of an inch short of the brakes being applied? Other than someone has been swapping shoes around?
Are there slack adjusters on it, maybe he wound them off a bit, even seen them to back off of their own accord but unlikely all 4.
like hc says, would he of left the handbrake on?
its easy done, whipped a set of the low loader once.:blushing:

Be a bitch to pull if they were dragging that much.

that makes me an idiot then.

had 13t on it at the time, the handbrake wouldnt of been on full, but enuf to wear some off them.
didnt really notice the harder pull tbh.

Could it have worn so far beyond the end of the ram travel if brakes were sticking on? has the bolt type adjusters on the back of the rams possibly could have backed themselves off as said? thinking of it the locking nuts weren't overly tight, not slack but it is not inconcieveable they might have backed off?

maybe they were too sharp on the leaping goat so the hirer slackened them off

is it the lorry type adjusters?

dont think i ever seen one backing off even with a loose locknut tbh.

which tbh, are crap anyway.
they are on trailers here too.

Trailer did come from your side of the water. Spoke to lad that was driving it says he backed them off a little as they were sharp with his tractor, thought they were getting worse as time went on so best guess is they'd screwed themselves off.
