I have read this paper https://www.icbf.com/wp/wp-content/...BI-PTA-BV-Spring-2014-updated-sept-2016-1.pdf and I understand it however Im still struggling a bit with what I see on the papers given for the Offspring of the below parents.

Bull Details
EBI 128
Milk 194kg
Fat 3.6kg
Protein 3.8kg

Cow Details
EBI 86
Milk -47
Fat -4.3
Protein 1.7

Should the Offspring of the above not be
EBI (128+86)/2=107
Milk (194-47)/2 =73.5
Fat (3.6-4.3)/2 =-0.34
Protein (3.8+1.7)/2=2.77

However as per the papers for the son of the above it is
EBI 63
Milk -7
FAT -2.8
Protein -2.7

Rather confused............

The milk figures for that bull are pretty poor tbh- he will leave daughters with less volume of milk less fat % and less protein % than the national average which is pretty poor tbh

That paper is from 2016, has it changed since? Actually I think there is a reasonable explanation in the front of your small white icbf book.

And Stan the milk figures, it really depends on your system, I'm trying to move away from the high milk +400kg cows here, I'm ai'ing them with sires with say - 150kg. +10kg in both the solids is desirable however. The majority of pure br fr bulls don't achieve much over 0 in any of the 3 production fields, plenty of lads with them and happy out.

What tje fook do I serve this cow ha? Her only saving grace is she calves down every 2nd year in the spring, but has enough milk to milk on over 2 lactations ha.

I take it that cow is a 100% Holstein for 3 generations or something like that ? and physically resembles a horse ?

Calves Only every 2nd year if she was mine it wouldn't be a problem cause she would be in some other man's yard but then again I only have spring calving herd here

Put down je4520 in the end, was tempted by a - 300kg pure br fr. And dstig I only calf in spring but milk on to fill a small 350l/day liquid quota, that's the one and only reason she is still here! And yeh she's a 750kg pure ho!

Fair enough every man knows his own yard !
