Winter barley 2019

T3 going on the winter barley plots this evening, Ceriax + Bravo + Combitop.

Quite pleased with the crop. Barley often looks it’s thinnest at this stage of its growth. Stem numbers seem very good.
Early N + early CCC is giving a good result I think.

Sprayed my winter barley T2 today (2 spray fungicide programme this year). Mettle/Inception, ctl, and combitop. Crop looks well apart from a very noticeable amount of Bydv (deter treated seed, but no follow up aphicide)

I used the flash in the camera as black blue crops are hard to take pics of. I might throw another couple of bags on it if I think if begins to fade back to just green, I wouldn’t want the neighbours thinking I ran out of merchant credit.
If total units per acre doesn’t start with a 2 are you really growing wheat or barley

As discussed target spraying winter barley in window Sat 11/5 to Wed 15/5. Recommendation: Combitop 5.4Kg/ha (25Kg/11.5ac) Proline 0.46L/ha (1L/5.5ac) Credo 1.1L/ha (5L/11.5ac) + Axial Pro 0.6L/ha (3L/12.5ac)
Got this done yesterday hopefully gate closed until harvest

Canary grass or wild oats?

Is 0.6 not heavy for wild oats, I've had 0.7 I think recommended for canary grass. Had older Axial to use up first anyway.
