What are the triangle yokes hanging up, presume to scare the crows but what actually do they do?

A Lemken?150mm spacing. 20 coulters, 3 metres wide.
Yeah Solitair 8.A Lemken?
Yeah Solitair 8.
To my knowledge the newer ones are. This is our second. The last one had 24 coulters in 3 metres so 125mm spacingAre a lot of the Lemken drills at 150mm spacings?
What's the theory behind going to a wider spacing, is there any benefit to the crop?To my knowledge the newer ones are. This is our second. The last one had 24 coulters in 3 metres so 125mm spacing
Well the flow of soil is less impeded with wider spacing in heavier conditions. Also I'm asumming more light can get to lower leaves for longer. Only one season with wider spacing so I haven't noticed any significant yield bonus/penalty yet. What's the theory behind going to a wider spacing, is there any benefit to the crop?
We have 12" on the sumo dts but like you said too wide for barley especially spring.I consider 7" spacing the sweet spot
just like Massey I think @MF30 ?
narrow spacing looks better but it fills in and more likely to tiller
8" works well too, tried 10" but too wide for Barley
Depends if its a row or banded, a gap of more than 8" is not ideal with our shaky leg spring barley varietiesWe have 12" on the sumo dts but like you said too wide for barley especially spring.
Does the Barley fall into the alleys in a wet harvest . With narrow rows the Barley is like two drunks one holds the other up .Depends if its a row or banded, a gap of more than 8" is not ideal with our shaky leg spring barley varieties
that's a perfect analogy, especially them shaky varieties @CORK do be peddlingDoes the Barley fall into the alleys in a wet harvest . With narrow rows the Barley is like two drunks one holds the other up .
He is selecting varieties now purely based on the amount of straw they have to enable the dairy lads get cheap straw and keep the Celtic cow on cocaine for another few yearsthat's a perfect analogy, especially them shaky varieties @CORK do be peddling

Correct, the early MF30s had spacings that were almost 7 inches wide and then changed to around 5 inch spacings. On a 3 meter drill this gave you 19 rows and 23 rows respectively. With 5 inch spacing and drilling seed only you could squeeze another couple of coulters in and feed them from the rear of the hopper. We changed from wide to narrow spacing years ago and I couldn't see any yield benefit. Narrow looked neater early in play, made it more difficult to walk through though when roguing wild oats etc!I consider 7" spacing the sweet spot

Speaking of cellule is it sold out or is there still seed available
I never saw that tweet you put up.Back to winter wheat
There is a lot to be said from a social media point of view of the positives of cutting 5T of Cellule in July :Thumbp2:
