workshop drill needed as the faithfull wolf drill gave up the ghost ,phoned to ask if it could be repaired and got told they stopped making them 15 years ago so probably had our moneys worth ,what to buy next though ,I have a stand drill and a small hand drill so need something with either 13 or 16 mm chuck and a bit of power ,what do you think of makita?

Had a Cordless Makita 18v. It put in 6000+ Lyn Reed screws into our new roof on the steading far more power for some reason than the roofers Dewalt 18v Pity one of them dropped it from 25 feet on to concrete. It was one of the last of the NIcad batteried Makitas. Plenty of power, light and 3 batteries. I find a cordless does 95% of what I need however an old Wolf or the like would be handy.

Local Smithy and carpenters seem to like Makita tools.

Cheers BB

You wont go far wrong with a makita. I also like Ryobi stuff, have an angle grinder and 18 volt cordless drill, good value and reliable IMO. Milwaukee also good but expensive
