I dont have a 3000 series tractor but Im planning on getting one at the end of the year, having done a lot of research, i believe that the 3120 was the best of the bunch followed by the 3095. Go for a dynashift or 16x16 and avoid 32x32, dynashift being the best option.

Was the dynashift not the 32x32?

Yes Dynashift is 32x32 but a different box to the original and troublesome 32x32 A+B box.

So two sticks - where is the shuttle and how many sticks where etc

I thought the A + B box was only on the 0's apart from the 3120.

:
Two sticks on all boxes left lever is 1,2,3,4 except on dynashift where its the reverse 4,3,2,1The right lever is the shuttle on the Dyna box and A'A1 B'B1 on the original 32x32 speedshift.

I thought the A + B box was only on the 0's apart from the 3120.[/quote]
A+b fitted to the 0's but some of the early 5s had 16x16 speedshift.
Now is that clear for you

A bit

But where is the additional range lever for the 16x16 box?

I know that the Dynashift uses the lever under the steering wheel to select the powershift which was a 4 speed job so that makes sense.

You'd know I had very little to do with these

Appreciate your help jpt!

The two ranges in each gear are selected using one button on the side of the gear stick in the 16x16 gear box
I wouldnt have a problem telling someone to buy one, our one has never let us down and we were never plagued with any faults but our one is fairly basic 16x16 autotronic and theres a great engine in them aswell :thumbup1:

I spend a good chunk of my summer every year driving a 3120 for a small round baling contractor, it has around 11,000 hours and its never had anything serious, just standard wearing parts such as clutches and tyres and alternators. Its one of the best tractors I've driven and I had the fortune of having it for a day last year leading silage with a 12 ton trailer on some quite hilly ground, it pulled like a train. Very good tractors indeed. Its a Dynashift Autotronic model which in my opinion are the best specifications for these 3000s as you don't get the unreliable 32 speed gearbox yet the bonus of 40k.

He did have a 3085 before as well, but it always seemed a bit gutless, even after a tinker with the magic spanner and reconditioned injectors it still felt a bit dead. In the end it was sold for another 3120 with half the hours, although the 3085 had over 10,000 on when it went, another good tractor with the same specification of Dynashift and Autotronic. I'd recommend them to anyone really and as has been said before, the 3120 is the best of the bunch.
