Tyres for MF 4215

Hi all, I bought a MF 4215. It had only 500 hrs up and it is fine for what I want it to do. However the wheels that are on it are a bit too narrow, the back wheels being 320/12.4/R32. The front tyres are 8.3/R24. These are a bit narrow on soft ground. What should I replace them with, taking into account that the tractor is only 55 hp. Thanks -Michael

@gone is our tyre size expert. As well as an MF user .He will know the proper answer .

12.4 x 32 is a simple swap , I think that a 14.9 x 28 is the same diameter. If not a 16.9 x 28. Rims off an MF 50 digger. Your front wheels will be extremely rare . Would a pair of agri grip super singles suit ? Possibly easier stay with with what you have on the front .

I would tend to go 16.9/28's and 12.4/20's, if there is room for the slightly taller tyres.

Well may it wear, nice little tractor. :Thumbp2:
You may post a few pics.

I have only ever owned MF. I bought a MF 50 digger last week, will be delivered this week. Will need some work but in reasonable working order...

Lovely looking digger, those Mark II's weren't made for long.

I have only ever seen 2 Mk 11s , and both were 4 wd.

I have a good idea from whom you bought that digger . Saw a picture of it once, and meant to enquire if it might be for sale , but it drifted out of my feeble mind . Would.have suited me. Oh well. Best of luck with it .:Thumbp2:

I bought the digger out of a shed in Cork, it hadn’t been in use for a while but the engine is pretty good. It will need new back wheels and a few hydraulic pipes and a paint job. Question, I see the solid rubber tyres for sake that would suit the digger, are they worth getting? That is instead of the regular tyres ?

Different digger so . Well wear .
I use the Michelin XZL ? Ex ESB 4 wd truck front tyres 100 odd for good sh . Super Jon. Never got a pucture on the last set in 15 years .

I wouldnt bother painting it , looks genuine as it stands. Get a bottle of the pink wash and wax stuff. And a belt of a hose and brush .

New back wheels ??Diggers usually have 12 ply tyres fitted , and hence will last longer than you think . Gripwise , a 2wd digger will be helpless in a field , unless the field is sound , regardless of lug depth. I definitely wouldnt dream of solid tyres on it .
Here is the ex ESB Michelins on the front of mine . Bought these last July , previous set on it 15 years plus . Hinch outside Tullamore stocks them

Selling the nifty fifty :scared::blink:

I didn't say anything about selling it .
The engine is getting tired , and the cab has a very airy feel to it now .

Took delivery of the MF 50 B last night, included in the deal is the digger, four buckets and a set of doubles...now let the fun begin

May you have hours of fun lifting , shifting rooting and digging . You have lots of buckets anyway .
Torque or clutch ? More likely to be torque.

This is all new to me. No sure whether it’s clutch or torque. Couldn’t get over to it today as the weather is just awful here.

Some pictures of the digger

I totally agree with Nash. 2 lovely purchases.
What is the bucket/fork just in sight , on left of photo where you are backing the tractor and box back to the dual wheels ?
Very tidy tractor. Back wheels fine . Fronts very narrow , but finding alternatives will be very difficult.
Whereabouts are you , Kerry , Sligo ? Quite rugged. Nice to look at , but as they say , You can’t eat scenery . :rolleyes2:
My query , clutch or torque . Is there a conventional clutch pedal on the left hand side , with 1,2, 3 ,reverse , and high and low ?
Or, 2 brake pedals on left hand side , and a sort of rocker pedal on right hand side , Instant Reverse , still 2 gear sticks with 2 speeds on each stick?

As said, two nice machines there, I wouldnt dream of painting that 50b anyway.
Are you actually on top of a mountain there?!

This is based in Kerry. The farm is rough grazing on the side of z mountain...very remote...and peaceful.......Kinda place where you get tough or die. I’d say that it’s it’s clutch not torque The tractor is like a MF 188 with as attachments ! My brother has a EX60 track machine and a MF 390T, great tractor.

its been a while with Covid and so forth......

The wheels for the Mf 4215, well what I bought was 16.9 R30 and 11.2 R24. I bought them on Done deal.

These wheels came off a Kiota 7330. They are new...but I have to change the centre dish as they are not compatible with MF 4215.

So far so good..
