The beet is still in very good order considering the weather, must have been stored in a nice cool shaded spot.Using up some leftover beet, I had about 20 ton should be finished by next weekend. Jasus they would kill for it.View attachment 78812 View attachment 78811 View attachment 78810

I made half an effort to sell it about a month ago, I don’t think I could have given it away at the time, but as you say that could all change fairly fast now.You , and plenty of others could be looking for more beet to feed in the coming weeks if the weather carries on as it is .

Are they supposed to be there?Sign of the times here, no grass and not busy so let them graze the long acre, on the old road, closed since 1969 and only now used for the farm and by 1 neighbour.

Very short of grass because of the drought, I let them out onto the closed farm road to graze the verges, clean it up, for a couple of hours, while myself and the dog kept an eye on them. I was hoping to avoid have to graze the hay meadow, but they move over there tomorrow. They won't use it properly, but at least they will have food. Are they supposed to be there?
They call that grazing the long acre round here.Very short of grass because of the drought, I let them out onto the closed farm road to graze the verges, clean it up, for a couple of hours, while myself and the dog kept an eye on them. That’ll add flavour to the beef...Sign of the times here, no grass and not busy so let them graze the long acre, on the old road, closed since 1969 and only now used for the farm and by 1 neighbour.

Fine stock, grazing is a lot more environmentally friendly than strimming or glyphospate :rolleyes2::rolleyes2:Sign of the times here, no grass and not busy so let them graze the long acre, on the old road, closed since 1969 and only now used for the farm and by 1 neighbour.
