Another low roof tractor loader thread...

The valmet 900 that came out in the late 90s was a serious reliable tractor,I presume the later one was much the same.
Friend I mine bought one new in 98 I think with a new quicke loader for 28k and it's still going with over 10,000 hours with no major issues including original clutch and they aren't machinery men
In 05 he bought a more upmarket valtra which has needed clutch packs and other problems.its a nicer tractor for sure

I had seen a few of them advertised but know very little about them. What's parts availability like?

Biggest problem with a 900 is they lack a powershuttle and the cab is a bit cramped which is worth bearing in mind if you have children who will be coming with you. I seem to recall an issue with synchros and the clutch needing to be replaced more frequently when on loader work.

The MF version of the Valtra A was only actively available for a few years until the global range was developed.

@candor What do your local mechanics specialise in? No point buying something if there is no local back-up

Haven't a clue but I presume new parts should be no prob.s/h would be rare id imagine.they are a basic tractor by modern standards but very simple afaik

There's a few relatively low houred landini mythos and ghibli across the internet at keen prices. Are they an inferior tractor to the vision?
Not sure about reliability but this extract is from a profi driving impression article and shows the new price 20 years ago

In typical Italian style, Landini offers the tractor with a long list of optional extras. To bring some order to this plethora of features, UK importer Motokov offers three tractors on which it fits certain options as standard to come up with three different ‘models’: The basic Mythos DT100 with manual shuttle gearbox; the Delta/DE with a clutchless powershuttle and manual linkage control; and the fully loaded Delta. Prices are £25,700, £26,500 and £29,200, respectively (see box). All have the same engine and general design but differ mainly in the gearbox, hydraulic control and extras

Needs a loader but this would be worth a look unless the dealer is dodge

or this

this one needs some love but there is room in the budget to freshen it up

The Ghibli would be inferior yes but the Mythos would be superior in my view.

Mythos is a stronger tractor, successor to the 9880, basically a baby Legend.

That's interesting. I have seen a couple of clean low houred mythos in recent months and they have been snapped up fast but some of the ghibli seem to he for sale for a very long time.

Probably some budding menapian tillage baron or other snapping them up for ploughing expeditions into the great soil plains of the south east

In base spec with manual shuttle and manual hydraulics mythos are fine. I wouldn't be keen on the ones with power shuttle or electric lift.

Had a Ghibli here for a while last year, only drove it a bit but it was quite basic, I'd go as far as saying the Blizzard is nicer.

Would a 1997 Massey Ferguson 6150 be worth considering? Did they rectify the problems by then? Maybe avoid like the plague...

What gearbox?
I always fancied one or a 3065.
They had plenty of electricital problems and the Speedshift gearbox gave enough issues, but the electricital issues are way less daunting now that most tractors have way more complex systems and any gearbox issues should be sorted. But I still would only go for Dynashift.

He says it's Dynashift but I'm not sure. Forward/reverse on the right, gear changes on in the left column stalk?
