Covid 19

A local man around forty developed heart issues rapidly after a vaccine.
I think it's an accepted risk though the percentage is tiny

Never took any vaccines.
Just my choice
I don’t force any views on anyone.
I know a few people did take them but only got one and wish they had not bothered.
While I don’t believe that the whole thing was a Bill Gates conspiracy ( unlike a friend of mine) , I only got the first double jab so I could fly a few months later ( no booster afterwards), chances of death are extremely slim for those under fifty and as it’s turned out, getting vaccinated doesn’t prevent contagion

There are problems getting Covid and problems getting Vaccines and it is hard to say which one caused the most problems. In general I do not believe in mass medication. Our waste water tells the story of over prescribing and the chemical prison people live in . Over thirty years ago I would not let our children near a doctor that would be a neighbor of my in-laws. because of the drugs he prescribed.
In general at this stage of the pandemic there is no need for young healthy people getting vaccinated unless they are in a highly exposed situation or for personal reasons.

I was talking to a woman about a month ago. 2 years ago her 14 year old got covid. She was a normal teenager, enjoyed dancing and singing and liked playing basketball. She had to go into intensive care for a few weeks and spent nearly 4 months in hospital. She has been on a heart monitor since full time and can only walk about 100 yards before stopping to rest or else she will collapse.

It effects people in so many different ways.
You could count on one hand the number of people in Ireland of that age who ended up seriously ill with covid like the person in that story

I have upmost respect for you.

We have an 85 year old in our house who has a number of underlying health conditions and covid could have been detrimental to him. Both myself and the Mrs work with the general public so we got vaccinated and had no side effects. The kids wore masks in school and were positive about their reasons for doing it.

But like many people that age, our senior household member is impressionable comparable to a child. Before Christmas I brought him to the local vaccination clinic and there was a protest there. I had to wheel him 100 meters from the car to the door and the abuse that both he and I took from the protestors was sick. They told him that he was commiting suicide by going for the vaccine, held up pictures of people on ventilators, stuffed flyers into his wheelchair that contained lies and they video recorded us. By the time we got inside, he was so distressed that he was in no condition for getting a vaccine and we had to leave again and face the barrage of verbal abuse from the protestors outside again. He ended up having to get it from his gp the following week.

I would have been back with a 4 grain fork and give them f..kers sometime to complain about, it's their choice to not take the vaccine but not their choice to push their uneducated opinions on others.

You should have called the guards

I took the first 2, no boosters in May 2021. The first one wasn't too bad. After the second one I was putting the dual wheels on the tractor to go to the bog. I had to give up and go home. Flattened. For 2 months after I also had occasional heart palpitations which may or may not have been related to it but I never had them before.

I had Covid in March 2022. Had a gritty throat for a few days but nothing serious. On day 8 after testing I got bored inside and ran 4 miles around the back roads. I coughed up as much as a lad smoking 40 a day. 2 days after i went for a run again and was as good as new.

If I took the booster I'd have to take time off work, I'd be in bed for the day. I worked from home the whole time I had Covid and never felt bad, so I don't see the point in taking the booster.

I think at this stage normality seems to have returned and covid 19 is just another thing that impacts on a tiny minority of people.
I must be one of the few people who has never taken a covid test either at home or HSE.
Got the first vaccine whenever it was as my wife " persuaded " me we should.Neither of us bothered with second or subsequent ones.

Had an elderly parent who died last year.
They got covid the first Autunm.Picked it up in hospital as had a few clear test before being admitted and after a few days another patient on the ward was diagnosed with it.
Didn't have any real effect apart from a cough for a couple of days although they weren't allowed home for 2 weeks.
They were the perfect covid "patient " as health would have been seriously compromised before this.Quadruple bypass some years ago along with numerous stents, acute renal failure, diabetes, mrsa, arthritis would have been the main complaints along with general ill health.
We as a family decided that life would carry on as normal for them all throughout this stuff ie anyone who wanted could visit them here at home at any time,no masks etc unless the visitor wanted to wear one themselves.
Two of my siblings work in the "medical field," one of whom worked the entire time on a covid ward. They were slightly more careful but even so always visited at least 1 or 2 times a week.
Looking back we are glad we did as the idea of locking them away for the last 2 years of their life would seem very stupid in hindsight.
I feel sorry for anyone who had a family member die when the restrictions were in place with restricted funerals,no visitors in hospital,no wakes etc etc.
We were determined that was no way to end your days stuck on a hospital ward without even a family member allowed in.

You should have called the guards
We were accompanied by security at the centre who told us that the guards would not come as they had been called by numerous members of the public and the security team there.

I'd love to know who is funding these people? They were all relatively young. A guard that I spoke to and gave the reg of a car that some of them identified the owner of the car as being located in dundalk - probably 150km from here and reports had been made of it being at protests at centres in other counties. What do they have to gain? I have no issue with anyone choosing not to have a vaccine but what is to be gained for trying to convince an 85 year old not to take a public health measure?

These people feel that they are better educated and more researched than our doctors. You should see what was on some of the websites that were linked on the flyers that we were given. Headbangers is a polite description. Certainly for anyone with half a brain, there was nothing credible on those sites. They appear to give authority to doctors and scientists that have been struck off the register- maybe its these people that are gaining by convincing the general public to go against public health measures.

The doctors who spoke out against covid policy were harshly isolated at best

I don't think any doctor was struck off for COVID policy.
An individual is entitled to their view but as a professional if they publicly say that senior doctors and researchers worldwide are wrong based on n their own individual opinion then they are wrong imv.
Time may prove them wrong or otherwise but there is such a thing as a team player.
If you want to believe the conspiracy theorists fair enough but don't make it a professional opinion.
A friend of mine is a gp in a local town.
He didn't take the vaccine himself but is young ish and has good health.
He administered it as recommended by government .
Hi approach was correct in his case imv.
The priest in a neighbour parish would not take it for religious reasons even though the Pope did
This man is fifty something and hardy looking.
Covid very nearly killed him ,was weeks in hospital and just about survived.
He went with his beliefs too but in his case it nearly didn't work out.
Neither man advised others Contra to government Policy but did their own thing,one.was.lucky, maybe the other was luckier.
We.will never know what would have happened without vaccine but the majority in intensive care had no vaccines by statistics.

Ur last sentence is 100% correct, my wife does cover intensive care and since the vaccine only non vaccinated patients end up in intensive care with Covid.

Im still convinced i had covid the december before it was officially discovered. Was fierce shook for a few days. Nearly passed out one day on the tractor and yardscraper with a coughing fit. Cousin gave a week in hospital that time too with a mystery virus.

Got all the vaccines so far and dont think i got it since

There was a heap of people quite sick with flu/flu like symptoms that December into January. New record at the time set for absenteeism in December and then again in January where I work.

I got a full Moderna and Pfizer booster after. Got COVID around Paddy's Day last year. I felt roughly as bad from the vaccinations as I did the illness but maybe the vaccine took the sting out of it.

A lot of potential side effects and I'm far outside the risk categories so won't bother with another.

Oh got a very bad dose too, before covid was a thing. Verging on pneumonia, multiple steroids and antibiotics. He has had every vaccine since as doesn't want to be that ill again.

One of the son inlaw was very sick that Christmas but he did not spread it to his own family or ours. He would have had a lot of contact with real elderly people ( not me) and they did not get it off of him . I have never seen anyone as sick as he was outside a hospital. My daughter had a new enough baby so she was having no sympathy for man flu especially as he had socialised before Christmas.
I know Covid has been very divisive and somethings worked and some things were just a nuisance but in general it brought out the best in people . One day I counted 48 different people going for walks on our farm.
