AYF's pics

Yea its a brown trouser moment alright when a trailler jumps like that :scared::scared:
Is it the hitch of the tractor orthe eyeof the trailer thats worn.
Neither, not sure what the heck he had done but she just wasn't hitched properly! The pin to hold the hook, and the lever in the cab were closed, think the clip to hold the pin back before it closes properly must have slipped somehow making him think it had closed properly when he pulled it in.
Luckily there wasn't any road work so... But still, shows that even a properly maintained hitch can fail/ tell lies!

Dad always goes on that we don't know the half of it, he had many a single axle trailer's draw bar joining him in the cab of the Leylands they used to run when he was younger! Every load was a gamble he said! At least most tandems just go up and not lurch forward as they go!
There was never anything worn on them either, just built so badly!

Had a David Brown 1210 years ago that was like tgat too. Often had the drawbar ovf the 11×7 silage trailer join me in the cab. Not a nice experience at all, and it doesn't make it any better even if your watching out for it too happen :eek3::eek3:

Neighbour had a 1210 Years ago with the steering wheel bent from the trailer drawbar hitting it, nobody hurt though.

Yea it happened on ours too, lucky enough i managed to dive out the door just in time. Always had to be watching for it
Its usual party trick was to land on the back of the seat or on the mudgard beside you in the cab :blink:

Was a 1210 here at one time too. Was just as bad as the Leylands. Just about remember it hauling trailers here.

Went out to top soome fields this morning, amazing how a mower instantly attracts cattle to be nosy an rub all over it! Took a chance to photograph a few of the beasts!

Not a drop of feed between them yet!
Some will need a bit of feeding before long, but a fair amount will go off grass this year.

Fair does AYF as always you have them looking well :Thumbp2:

Quiet ish time for stock at the moment, so pan mixer has been in over drive making concrete for various projects on the farm and making a path for the back of our bungalow

Borrowed clip together mettle forms from the neighbour to shutter the path, they leave a really good edge and very easy to set up.

New door step

Finished off with some coloured stone in the gutter left behind, and spare paving slabs provided some 'feng shuay' in the gravel!

Old sheep race needed updating, floor was very uneven and the far end was too narrow, so made a new floor with a level bit for the weigh crate, put in removable posts to hold the sides up and lifted it about 2inches off ground level, should make dealing with ewes easier.
20161025_112714.jpg 20161026_101857.jpg

Sheep run in better now, and where previously they would get to the end and back up as it was dark and narrow, they will tend to stay out better.

Finally sheep footbath needed extending, built it in 2007 and thought it was huge! not so! Between it and one other we could stand 65 ish ewes at once, problem is we have them in lots of 80 in the sheds, so hopefully we can now take groups through without mixing them up, making life easier on them and us!

I'll update the pics when finished!

Footbath extention went so well that they don't want to get out of it! They recon some women pay a fortune for a foot bath so why should they be quick to jump out of a free one!

New bottom step for the 6620. not prety but not threatening to brake someones leg!

The girls know where they want to be this time of the year! In from the field and just wonder into the shed no probs!

Tucked up and eating us out of house and home!

Mucking out our old sheds the other day, looked at the old workings in one of them and got to wondering, what would the poor gets who had to struggle to get that up there and make it work would think of our modern tractors and easy peasy PTO's etc etc!?
The bag on the wall is where the belt went through to some form of engine, was told it was a stationary diesel until a tractor with a pulley came along.

other project this week was dog proofing the quad, these manufacturers don't think about the poor hounds! Bit of stock board is handy!

And so it begins! First set of twins out yesterday morning, good to see them out to a decent bite too, last years re seed, wee'l see how it performs!

The 10w Ansel lights we are slowly converting the sheep shed to. Pics below show their effectiveness IMO, first pic is 100w filament bulbs (one in centre of each bay), Next is 2x 10W LED placed where the old lights were (simply removing flex from the bulb holders and putting the flex on the new lights in its place. Shed is a double span with passage down the middle, took these pics from the centre of the passage.

Took the little one for her firs stroll on the beach last weekend, very popular spot called LLanddwyn Island which is a lovely spot especially on a nice winters day. Pulls a serious amount of people in the summer too! Well worth a visit for anyone over on Anglesey!

Some pics of the last few weeks.

Had a few lambs go down with hypothermia when storm Doris struck, hot water bath got them round. Start cool then add more hot water as you go.

Then we rigged up a lamb warmer using a fan heater and a bread tray.

Conker tree i planted about 20 years ago! Grew it from a conker picked up at a local farm. Picture doesn't do it's size justice, was planted in a wet rough, it has dried the place up!
20170301_124438.jpg

Bit of a oopsie with the bike and trailer, I jumped off to catch the ewe in the trailer! Dog stayed on the whole time!
20170302_085849.jpg

Winch on the bike is fantastic!
20170302_090407.jpg

Dog can't for the life of him understand why the sheep gather round his bike in the morning! Pisses him off no end!
20170304_094648.jpg

Only lamb I could get to stand still long enough!
20170304_101144.jpg

Best buds!

A nice few pets Ha. Suppose they will come into a few £££ all the same.
They cost less than a dead lamb is the theory! Ha.
They do at least break eaven. But mother does a fantastic job of them. Ensuring colostrum intake is the main thing.

Lots of people are shocked we have so many. But nothing goes out with 3 lambs and we dont do adoptions unless the recipient has a very good udder and both lambs are equal size. We mark all adoptions with an A. Its surpising how many of the poorer lambs in a field have A's on!
