Chickens

Bad day today.
4 of the 6 chooks are dead!!

Gave them fresh water and filled their hopper with medicated chook food last night to worm them.

Everyone bright as a button.
By lunch today found 4 dead as a door nail
One mostly eaten.
The other 3 intact.

Not likely fox as it wouldn't get in easy at all.

Would stoats or similar kill more than one?

And the big question. Does medicated feed affect them?

Ex commercial layers so don't know what they've had previoisly, but been here close to a year now
Doesn't sound like fox if part eaten one is still there. Wouldn't think a stoat big enough to eat most of a hen. Mink maybe, or as @whelan1 said pine marten (Don't know if they in Anglesea but they are in much of Wales)

The Mrs said she saw a big group of crows lift out the pen this morning, that could explain the eaten one.
Although she was well eaten.
Strange the other 3 hadn't been started on.

The cover for their feed hopper was off, which makes me think there was a struggle.

We have stoats and other various critters here for sure. One almost certainly living near enough judging by the sightings so....

Pine marten is blamed usually around here anyway.they are good at climbing trees and jumping in to pens.
The feed is a very big coincidence
