Well it's a 750A in the pictures you posted.Yes sown with a JD 750,(A????), not sure if they all are A or not.
It was sown a bit too heavy, but great establishment, he calibrated it 3 times, but the seeds and rates are so small any tiny misread of the scales makes a big difference.
Really too late now, "A day in July is worth a week in August, and a week in August is worth the whole of September."Anyone rent their cover crops to livestock farmers? Considering asking a local tillage farmer here about sowing a crop and allowing me to graze weanlings on it up to february. How much would a lad need to be giving for the use of the land? Thanks
In any other year maybe although wasnt much growth for the month of july here anyway the next month should be a good growthy month sowed redstart on ley a week ago and its after making a serious start , i agree its getting late but stillReally too late now, "A day in July is worth a week in August, and a week in August is worth the whole of September."
It really needs to be sown after Winter Barley in July to make sense renting it. I tend to get only €30/acre plus they use a reasonable amount of a high P&K compound, off my books, but that is for grazing by sheep. grazing with cattle would have to be a good bit more than that because of the damage done.
I saw a dead Wildebeest in a field down near Ballon .The Rape/Kale is wilting every afternoon from the drought, I'm not looking for rain or anything, but grass growth and OSR establishment must be poor at the moment around here.

Do you use a proper drill to sow it ?View attachment 97004View attachment 97005View attachment 97006View attachment 97007
Hard to believe it got zero fertiliser or slurry. There was a decent crop of winter barley here before this. Amazing where it finds all the nitrogen but the warm ground must be releasing a lot of background stuff.
No. I taught I had pics up somwhere of sowing itDo you use a proper drill to sow it ?
See it now, very uniformNo. I taught I had pics up somwhere of sowing it
I have phacelia vetch mix here sown the same time and there is feck all on it apart from barley volunteers. Phacelia is almost non existent. Had seed rep out to look at it and of course he says it's ok but germination seems awful. Either way that's very impressive.View attachment 97004View attachment 97005View attachment 97006View attachment 97007
