One of the ivemectin trials that many of the activists in the states proclaim to be gospel gave the result from 1 person thousands of times showing the field of study to be over 5000 individuals and claimed that it it proved that ivemectin was suitable for treating covid.
You can't get ivemectin horse paste in the good old U S of A now as there was a rush on it for human consumption and they can't manufacture it fast enough to keep up with demand.
Ivemectin on its own won't do you much harm if you stay within safe limits but some of the things that some people have been doing has lead to people being quite sick and even deaths in extreme cases where people have injected ivemectin to themselves at the same rate that you would inject a 600kg horse. Those that drank the pour on got away with severe stomach upset and only 1 in 3 had to have their stomach pumped.
There may be some potential for ivemectin to treat or prevent covid. The trials have really let the whole thing down. Couple that with the crazy people who will do anything to get it into their system and I really can't see it being approved any time soon.

Merck have just brought out a 700 dollar covid treatment pill. Seemingly costs 17 dollars to make. I wouldn't have much bother with them doing that, to be honest. The research and development of drugs takes hundreds of millions to do and maybe one out of thousand might be any way effective.
And a smaller proportion useful.
And an even smaller proportion safe for human use.
The rewards have to be huge on successful drugs to justify the spend on researching them
