Why is such a substance needed? To trace water or what. Or is it for Paddies day 🤣Could you use pond dye? I have a bag of it here that I sometimes use in the napsac. It lasts 2 to 3 weeks. Tree stumps are treated with 20% solution of urea to protect against the butt-rot fungus Heterobasidium annosum. A dye is added to this solution so that treated stumps can be easily identified.Excuse my ignorance but what does the dye / urea do?
Why if you cut down a tree would you not want the butt to rot away?Tree stumps are treated with 20% solution of urea to protect against the butt-rot fungus Heterobasidium annosum. A dye is added to this solution so that treated stumps can be easily identified.
Because the fungus will attack new trees. Why if you cut down a tree would you not want the butt to rot away?
I believe it is used to darken water in ponds for to block sunlight and kill algaeWhy is such a substance needed? To trace water or what. Or is it for Paddies day 🤣

No. The pond dye is simply a dye. Harmless to aquatic lifeIs the stuff for ponds not bluestone?
Yes Arthur is right, the Urea somehow kills the spores or something to do with the fungus. It only really attacks conifers.
If you don’t apply it you can be fined so much per stump. The forest service do prosecute.
