Ford/New Holland

We have to mind the old gear, as well as reminding ourselves to always pull out the calculator before the chequebook .
I know the feeling i took over here in 2020 and we were only part time farming before that so was all 70/80s gear witch was fine for what we were at. But trying to change up 6/8 years now every 3/4 years to meet the workload and its getting harder all the time especially when your trade is so much below what your looking at.

Really i hadn't heard of any names going or do they get swallowed by the bigger company and the name kept on?
maybe it's the latter. i heard a man say it at an auction but i don't buy the farmers journal here so i'm not sure what the situation is. It can't be good if the farmers that buy the tractors are getting broke, then you look at the situation where tracked excavators of similar horsepower are selling cheaper than tractors because they have a larger market.
certainly many automobile manufacturers are in trouble. vw has sold out to china, and gm and ford i think are getting bailouts

They are being priced of the cost of the replacement rather than what they cost new. If you were buying a new tractor and it had gone up 15k you be expecting more for 3 or 4 year old trade too. The new cost is dragging up 2nd hands along with strong demand.
Exactly. And the buyers are setting the market really. Sellers can only charge what they can get and stuff is selling well for the moment anyway

Yes.

When you account for financing and tieing up of capital etc most of us can't make the sums work on anything unless we plan on keeping it for decades and decades.
But sure who buys anything in the thought of not keeping it for decades and decades. If you’re doing loads of work with it then you’ll be keeping it fresh. Every time you go into a dealer the reality is you’re giving them €6/7k for the privilege cause like it or lump they have an awful lot of costs to keep the doors open and have to allow for stuff sitting idle etc.

If you don’t want the tractor your don’t have to buy it. Or do you propose that the farmer buying the new tractor should be shafted on their trade in?

Not knocking either dealers and I know they provide good service to there customers but there is only so many 3/5000 hour 15 year old tractors about yet they seem to have a constant supply surely some of ye have thought that aswell
A lot of people will buy tractors without ever going to look at them and they seem to be getting on okay . You would not think that there is over 8000 hours on my class but there is actually more hours on it . Modern tractors actually hold together quite well . The lift arms are tight despite doing 9 years carrying a three tonne grubber . The lift arms on the Fendt are actually more worn

Along with that it seems if you do buy it with the intention of keeping it for decades and mind it will hold its value well. Father bought a TM165 in 2014 for 21k. Must be worth most of 30k today.

Looking for a toolbox for the 7030. Its missing off it. Dont need anything fancy or lift out trays just something for pins and balls as I hate them rolling about the cab. Theres a couple listed for T7000 can any tell me the difference and sizes or if there is any alternatives out there. I assume the cheaper one is just a smaller version ?

Does she have the pins out under the back of the cab to store the balls? I put ones on the first t6 but the current came with them find it handy having them there, your not going routing looking for them, plus they take up a good bit of room in the box

The one that came with TM/TSa had small capacity and poor hinges that broke easily, the one that came with T6000 was bigger, better hinges and a lift out top tray, the chances are the dearer one there has the lift out tray, no benefit if you just want to store link balls.

Case and nh have two different tool boxes on them. The one on the case I think is like the left one in your pic is a better box. Deeper and fits more. The nh one is grand but not as good

You can buy the ball carrier bracket that is on the newer models. I got one for the Maxxum. Not a big job to make one but it wasn’t expensive. Will get a pic later

The smaller toolbox is for the T6000 as there is not enough room on top of the diesel tank for the bigger one - I loooked into it when trying to get a bit more storage on the Maxxum

Would one from a tm125 fit, I think I might have it in the shed.. Either in the shed or I'm wrong and it's melted 😂 if its there and would work your welcome to it.

It doesn't. It's something I might look at doing but will likely be winter before there is time again now.

Ya the TM one is same one that been used for i dont know how many years. They not massive but I did manage away with it. Its just to leave a selection of pins, r pins and linch pins mainly so dont need much fancy. I cant actually order the cheaper box possibly think its an older version or part no just. Like everything its expensive enough just to hold a few pins but what do you do.

I would appreciate photo of ball carrier. Is it a new holland part or aftermarket ?

I will probably just bite the bullet and buy the big one in the end up.

I have tried the TM one here doesn't fit it would need modified. I did threaten it modify one. Its the bolts holding bracket on tank that are keeping it up. I would need to drill holes in bottom to sit it flush.

The Fendt toolboxes are crap in my opinion so we got stainless toolboxes made to fit on top of the diesel tanks.

Thats not a bad idea. I assume you got someone local to make it up. My problem would be someone to make it.

Yes, a local man who specialises in stainless steel work. He used nice stainless “piano hinge” for the hinges. Just gave him a sketch. As you say, getting someone to bother with small projects could be the problem.
