No issue with cracking up this way.Could do with a small sup
It's like that with us too. We did get 10mm Saturday night, brings the month to 20mm.Could do with a small sup
No rain in well over a fortnight hereI can’t believe what I am hearing macro “looking for rain “ seriously ??
I'd take that any day. Sick of rain. And it cold enough this morning.View attachment 93592
Forecast looks very dry and getting hot again next week.
Growth is fine here for now.
Due to walk again tomorrow but, other than taking out a 2100 cover paddock, all baling/topping is going to be postponed, I'd say. Growth in the next few paddocks needs a bit of a boost from rain but a few mms forecast on Wednesday and some 6-7mm on Friday isn't going to do much.Growth has stalled here over the weekend. Zero rain and big growth rates this month combined with savage drying over the last few days has everything going crispy. Plans to mow out surplus covers have been shelved as we are now in drought mode.
Would you not get the heavy paddocks mowed out if in drought? Nothing dries out land faster than standing grass. I know allot of extra expense to bale, and feed out a week later.Growth has stalled here over the weekend. I suppose it depends what you call heavy. Anything 2000 kg/ha or above with a lot of stem may be taken out regardless of weather, they're useless to graze. It's the 1800 kg paddocks of aftergrass with lots of leaf that I was referring to, at last weeks growth rates we were never going to get them grazed before they turned to stem but with growth stalling we should get to them in the next few days.Would you not get the heavy paddocks mowed out if in drought? You'll need to walk your ground regularly so you know what's there and what's coming, that's the secret ingredient.Looking to reseed for grazing cattle and growing hay or hayledge any recommendations on type of seed to use, I want it to be meadow and not a single type of grass. Also how do you go about measuring your growth to add to this thread. Tia
