Home PC ? Which one

I bought a Dell optiplex 790 small form factor pc about 9 months ago for 240 euro, already have a monitor. High spec and a very tidy unit with plenty of spares about.

HELLO, I AM SPEAKING TO YOU FROM THE NEW COMPUTER I FINALLY GOT AROUND TO ORGANISING

All I'll say is computer types and agricultural types have very little in common, it's a terrible disappointment to take a shiny new machine out of the box and discover it's half the size of the old one, surely it should be the other way around :scratchhead:

I’m hoping to buy a pc tomorrow (if nothing blows up today and needs the money).
I’m going pc as I want something ultra reliable and also I have 2 laptops already.
On my desk is a pc I bought of Atlantic It (to run our parkour) it’s a hp pro desk 600pc, 8gb ram, 500 gb hard drive. It’s a very capable computer , really quick to power up; but i bought a drone to promote my business so I need a pc that will handle editing videos. And also future proof.

On the other forum it was advised to go ssd hard drive and my brother in law recommends 1tb hard drive.

Now I’m totally lost on video cards, chips, cores, etc; but the lads in Atlantic have numerous hp

HP Z420 Workstation 32GB RAM SSD HDD

I’m told this is a great machine and very easy to upgrade and do anything with, plus still has plenty of capacity left to upgrade down the line, rather than something all ready wound out within an inch of its life.

There’s also this

Very fast HP Elite Core i5/8GB RAM/120GB SSD Win10

Anyone able to help? Is there much in the difference?

Cheers

The first one posted would be a very capable machine, ssd drive to run windows and your editor from, the hdd for file storage. The graphics card would be old enough but you could stick a GTX1070 or a 1080 into it if ye wanted to speed up your rendering. If you needed more storage and the motherboard has an n2 slot, you can get an 1TB NVME drive, just ridiculously fast! Put one in my machine last year, right job.

Depending on the editor you use ( in my case Premier Pro) look into making proxy files for you video clips, makes it a lot easier to handle.
