loader softdrive

Anyone know if the bottles can be recharged . Have 2 on the rossmore loader at home and the good is gone out of it . Remember a qiucke loader that was at work a few yr`s back that had a 3 bottles for the softdrive the best one i`v ever used on a tractor .T

They can be recharged providing the diaphram hasn't split that is.

Where would be the best place to T into for the soft ride? And I'm only fitting one. And would it be put on the lifting hose to the ram or the other hose?

Where ever is convenient really, mine is mounted on cross member and connected into one of the pipes that run across the member, the one on the MX is mounted by the mach connector and stays with tractor when loader is removed, have you got a tap to go with it to switch it off ?

Yes there is a value fitted with it. I presume it would be connected to the hose line that lifts the loader up? As abosed to the one to lower it

I have seen them inside the tubular cross section I put mine on the inside of the main frame and put the t in the Middle of the pipe going to each ram not sure if it makes a difference. Let us know how u get on with the 1 accumulator

Ya going to fit it on the cross member. Did ye T into steel pipes?
Yes put a T in the steel pipe, you could run the pipe from accumulator round to where steel connects to the short flexible if it were easier to put a T there!

Bit embarrassed about this but recently discovered a bottle in the cross member of our q45 loader so assuming it's for soft drive but it ain't working so I presume the bottle is shagged. Loader is in the yard or field most of the time so we never even thought of it up to how.

Where would a lad go to see if it could be recharged? Is there anyone specialising in them?
Also a bit of a dopey question, the bottle is plumbed back to the block on the loader and these are the fittings, can these be gripped and unscrewed? There aren't any nuts on them that I can see, there is on the bottle end but cant get in at that in the tube.

There actually a push fitting Remove the little red plastic tag from the fitting push in and then pull out . Don’t lose the red tags .

Are you sure that’s it’s switched on in order to work? Either an electric switch or a tap, it should be turned off for loading anything heavy. It’s really just for traveling only.

I don’t think our loader has a switch for turning it on or off?
I heard before that soft drive and front axle suspension can counteract each other? Maybe no truth in it.

Double “suspension” may or may not be effective, I’d imagine it would give you extra travel in the bounce. I’d be surprised if your loader hasn’t got a switch, it’s possible to burst the diaphragm in the nitrogen bottle by lifting heavy loads with soft drive switched on.

It actually wasnt wired so.i got out the multimeter, found the wire and have traced power all the way down to the solenoid/actuator so I think it's good on that side of things. Thanks

If it wasn’t wired it was naturally shut off, it may still be ok. Lift a bale of hay and apply power to switch, loader should drop a few inches if ok.

Seems to be solid. I didnt have any weight to apply to it this evening but on letting down the loader fast I didnt get the cushion effect youd normally get with soft drive which makes me think its goosed but I will try a bit of weight too.

Is the solenoid on the soft drive clicking when you switch it on/off?
