I was asking himself there he reckons 96 or 97 roughlyWhat year is the first photo? @Masseyrk662
I think there was a 2640 2wd drive locally here when I was young. It was the main tillage tractor on a farm, mostly ploughing and maybe rotavating for sugar beet. Most likely bought new. Probably a standard 4 furrow KV plough. I used to hear it roaring away when I went to school.I was asking himself there he reckons 96 or 97 roughly
Did you have any 3000/3100 series Masseys back in the mid 90’s? We had a 3095 around that time.I was asking himself there he reckons 96 or 97 roughly

Massey cab's are still nicer than New Holland, and I own a New Holland.Come to think of it, a number of years later I was drawing silage for a contractor. He gave me his brand new blue top 8340 Ford. A grand tractor but I’d much rather the Massey 3125. So much nicer style, better cab and better to drive. I did a lot of hours in both tractor.
I’d imagine the 8340 would last longer but I’d still prefer the Massey any day.
I’d imagine that NH have gotten closer to Massey cabs recently but back then they were worlds apart.Massey cab's are still nicer than New Holland, and I own a New Holland.

I was looking at latest NH models and they look good. They really should use the metallic paint as standard.
he says the 2640 used to mow and do a bit of tillage, he hadn’t huge interest in tillage but he always had some tillage till about 05 I’m going to guess. The 699 and 399 2wd were baling, the 690 (first tractor I worked) was wrapping and the other 690 was at small square baling, haybob etc. no @Mf 7715 we never did but a good friend of mine had one from new and still has it and it’s going very well. He’s also a contractor. But one thing we did have years ago was a 8100 series, that was a fine bus, pity I didn’t get driving it ever
I loved the 3100/3000 series.
Drove a 3125 for a local man spreading fertiliser with a 2tn Rauch & crane. He just let me at it after a brief training session. Spread a lot of stuff and he used to bring it to me with a jeep and trailer.
I loved that tractor with its dynashift. Such a change from driving Old Ford’s with manual gearboxes and at best dual power.
His baby tractor was a 3075. We also drove a 3680 & 3670 on the same farm - giants. The 3670 had dynashift.
A lovely tractor and lovely looking with it.My father bought the 3095 secondhand in ‘96 it was 4 years old, I did all the mowing and baling with it, I was 18 at the time and I thought I was the coolest tractor driver around, thinking back now I probably was…. It was a 32 speed and never gave any problems.
I spent 2 summers in a yard with an 8340 when I was in school. Nobody liked driving it. 2 x MX Cases with over 12k hours each always were taken from the yard first.Come to think of it, a number of years later I was drawing silage for a contractor. When asked by the salesman what optional extras your father would like, he simply replied “yes”……Them 3095’s were a cool yoke. In 2006 the father bought a brand new 6480, dyna 6, heated seat, electric mirrors, I never even heard of a heated seat before that so I thought it was a rolls Royce of a yoke.
A few years later I ended up power harrowing a field with a fresh 820 and I never knew what vario was until that day, I went home and told the father we had to buy a 7480.
Oh Lordy.Had to go rooting there, I had an IPhone 3GS at the time. View attachment 160263View attachment 160264View attachment 160265
That range of fendt was far ahead of its time, in my opinion now if you spec any big brand tractor to the last they are all nearly as good as eachother but back in 2004-2010 ish the fendt was far ahead, a 7400 massey for example was a fendt bar the engine and front axle, but they were still a long way behind with the technology in the cab.Oh Lordy.
I lived in John Deere world and then the man who does our contract work turned up in a new 716 like that. I knew very little about Fendt before that. He then moved onto a 718 I think. He knocked a lot of hard work out of both of them.
That model shape of Fendt will be go down as a classic in my opinion.
Little did I think that we’d eventually have one. It’s a machine that you feel happy walking up to each day and enjoy driving. I intend that we maintain ours for as long as we can and run them until they give up.
I was a Ford man when I started out, I thought all I'd ever need was a fleet of 10 series and I'd be set for life. Had 2 6610's and a 7610, gave a few days driving an 8340 for another contractor and I hated it. Got a different 8340 on trial off a dealer I was doing a good bit with and hated that as well. That was the end of me and Fords. Got into a mighty, awesome and phenomenal Deutz DX6.05 and never looked back. The last 10 series went in 2003 or maybe 2004. Apart from a brief dalliance with the Devil in the form of a Deere, and the Fendt, have been all Deutz ever since.I spent 2 summers in a yard with an 8340 when I was in school. I'm the antithesis, was working towards all Deutz until they went water cooled and the early Agrotrons didn't impress with their oven of a cab with poor Aircon. 6..50 went when the spfh arrived, NH of course and gradually the blue replaced the green.I was a Ford man when I started out, I thought all I'd ever need was a fleet of 10 series and I'd be set for life. I didn't want to taint my opinion of Massey, I could only be disappointed comparing subsequent models to the perfection of the 135It must have been a real low point in your life when you went deere and fendt.
Glad to hear that things are back on track.
Never tried Massey's 😙😙🤔🤔
The John Deere blip was around the time of the early Agrotrons. We never had one between a 1995 DX which was the last of them and the first of the high bonnet Agrotrons in 2004.I'm the antithesis, was working towards all Deutz until they went water cooled and the early Agrotrons didn't impress with their oven of a cab with poor Aircon. 6..50 went when the spfh arrived, NH of course and gradually the blue replaced the green.
Finally got the steel and timber for this job, I’ll try do it over the midterm, if I put it up here I’ll have toI had the electrician out yesterday evening, we got him to change the lights in the slatted shed to LED, something that should be done in all the sheds. We brought the canopy of the shed down as well after it was damaged in storm last year. Probably not great for ventilation as when we used to kill bulls it was hard enough keep air flowing but I don’t think there will be ever more than 40 animals in this shed anymore and even if there is we have another 2 bay shed with slats with no cattle at all anymore so we will be fine for space.
I got the machinery shed setup with the 32 amp plugs, 32 amp C curve and 10mm2 wire for the welder so I’m happy with that now

I am going adding a bay onto this shed either over the Christmas or February midterm, I had planned on another shed in yard but Iv bought a lot of machinery this year and the house extension now will take a bit of money too. I have everything inside bar the slurry gear and that disc harrow which should be where the father has that sweeper left, but when I get my new rake and if I buy a front mower I have no where for them so I just need something handy for now
