No rain

I don't worry too much about it. I know the company policies and can write my own reports up there with the best of them.

These weasels are well known and if you know the system too most managers will be only too happy to take a run at them.
 
Chasing bales like a man possessed. 130 big squares in the shed and will have 70 round gathered in the next hr. Every time I look at the weather it's changing but rain is in the way and next week looks broken

It’s not just hr imo it’s the whole bloody world. This absolute horse s… of everyone gets a medal, or we don’t keep score etc is beyond a joke and leading to people that don’t understand that you don’t always get what you want, you won’t always get the job you wanted, you do have to work for what you want it won’t just be handed to you etc.

At 6:30 this fella says that organic nitrogen will be building at 1/2 a kg per day in a dry spell.

I don't know how accurate that is but he's right in saying N is building up in the soil in unusable forms because microbes don't have enough water to turn it into forms that plants can use.

Once the soil (not just the surface) gets wet again the microbes and bugs can get to work converting organic N into Ammonium and Nitrate that the plants can use and you'll get big burst of growth.

In other words the flush we'll see in the next week isn't just because the plants themselves get water, it's because the organic soil nitrogen is getting released by the water too, even if you don't spread anything.

To get the most from your chemical N I'd wait for:

1. Enough soil moisture (get out a spade and check)
2. Strong grass growth.

That means that the granuals will dissolve and move through the soil well and then the plants will be well able to take them up.
 
Started here properly around 6, and mighty glad to see it. It’s nice steady rain the type you’d want rather than cloud burst type, hopefully will stay going through the night as giving dry again tomorrow evening and Wednesday

We got a monsoon for between an hour and 90 minutes, couldnt get out of the jeep to leg in home for 30 mins

It’s been on and off but nothing too mad heavy, was a steady rain when I typed the last message and back to a brighter sky now.

We got about 20 minutes of that stupidly heavy rain on Thursday but that was it

You have to learn that your not always right and there's always going to be a bigger bear.
