Places to visit

DP's latest musings about Wexford got me thinking about the localish attractions so no harm to share some links.

Loftus Hall, many will have heard the stories about the devil appearing there.

Just down the road is Hook Lighthouse
http://hookheritage.ie/

Further along is Tintern Abbey

And the next three are linked to the connection with JFK.

Firstly Kennedy Park.

I would recommend on a bright clear day going up to the viewing point, you can see to nearly Tipperary from there.

The Kennedy Homestead.

And finally the Dunbrody ship

Perhaps if others did similar it may be useful for other members.

Very fancy Tippcon! The hero of 96's hotel.

But can you bring all this rain back to Tipp with you.

I have two coats by the stove here drying already:tdown:

Did you stop at the Motor Show on your way down?

A grand spot, very child friendly so the small ones had a ball.
We were in Johnstown Castle yesterday, well worth a visit for anyone who is in the area. We didn't get to the gardens as the weather was dire, but the museum was a grand way to spend a wet afternoon. I was in it many times over the years and always enjoy the day out.

Thanks for posting those , Tippcon. It is over 20 years ago since I visited that museum , and it seems to have had a lot added since then. Is there a sort of Mini Fergy implement section now ?

There's a dedicated Harry Ferguson section, with a handful of implements and 5 tractors - a Ferguson Brown, a Ford 9N, a Ford 8N, and 2 TE-20's. They also have an electrically operated cutaway of a 20 back-end that shows the workings of the hydraulic system.

Maybe @nashmach would move this to the places to see thread if TC doesn't mind of coarse. I'm always saying there's lots to see and do here but like most I dare say I haven't a clue where and it'd be good to see what others have seen and what they thought.

I don't mind at all, if I'd seen the "Places to visit" thread before I posted them here then that's where I would have put them :Thumbp2:

Was He driving a CVX...........

You left out Curracloe (spelling) beach there nash. Only a small bit outside Wexford town and a lovely place.

That's outside the area though!

Lovely beach it is too in off peak tourist season.

You clearly did a good tour!
Hmm I suppose it is a bit alright. In saying that I think it was well worthwhile the 12 minute drive from Wexford to the beach. And it was lovely for a walk. There's still sand from it on the passanger side floor mat in the jeep. I ain't saying anymore :tt2:. It was an enjoyable break though in fairness.

Well , I have never been in Bernard Byrnes , but I have had the pleasure of visiting Paddy Denbys . I reckon you could be left there , and you would be a happy camper. Bigger version of Cloone Engineering , with lots of bearings , bits and bobs for sale. And he is very into his steam engines.

One of the best places I've visited.
I have been there numerous times but never covered the island.
That place has some history

Took a day trip to Dublin yesterday with the family.
Nice dry, calm conditions for mooching around. Good buzz around town.

We went to see Marsh’s library and then across to Trinity to see the book of Kells.

Marsh’s was excellent, pics in this post. I remember our teacher in primary school (30 plus years ago) reading the ghost story to us.
The place even smelt old, we all loved it.
