I reckon the Sensehub collars work out at 20 euro per cow per year for me for the full lifetime of the system roughly speaking, over 7 years. I'm including the grant to start with in that sum but the fact that it's limited to 120 collars means it isn't a huge help anyways really. And taking full replacement cost of the collar in year 7 again presumably it will cost the same amount again going forward or you can get a different system of course.

Cows every year the reason I went to csensortec was I knew there prices.they are more expensive than sensehub so that wud have only made it cheaper on the collar side if I used sensehub in the example

Priced sensehub earlier this year. Subscription service is 4 euro per collar per month no upfront cost and no worries of replacement cost when battery’s etc go
After 3-4 years you’ve the price of the collars paid for with the subscription? Or is the base station free with the subscription model?

Base station and installation all included. Takes a good bit of the bite out of the price.

Might suit some better. I didn’t purchase still looking into it all. The sensehub quote worked out at 19300 for 90 odd cows not including any grant. Versus 4300 a year going the subscription route
Hard leave the grant behind you for the 90 cows, be 44 x 90 for the collars and 1100 grant for the base station bringing total cost down by 5k. Might be more even now with Tams costings updated lately. Brings it back to 14300. The 4300 per year looks dear then I guess but I take your point re everyone's situation being different.

Nedap collars working on a Waikato drafting gate here. Works very well.
A big flaw I see with the blouses is one that no one seems to flag. If the cows are not in range of the antenna the whole time, which happens in the majority of herds, then the system has to extract all the information from every cow at milking time. Collars are the same also BTW.
Collars will generally take a few minutes to do this, however I believe that boluses can take up to 45mins to perform this task. So if your cows are out of range from the base station, you bring them in for milking, you either leave them in the yard for 45mins before milking or risk missing information before they leave the parlour. I know a farmer that has a mobile base station on a trailer that he moves to each paddock where the cows are grazing to overcome this. That's not a solution IMV.

In fairness to the rep he told me straight up if you have over 100 cows you will need two stations. The range is 300 meters. But he said within 10mins everything is up and recorded.
Boluses are €35 each so the risk isnt as big. It’s the annual charge kills them. Plus Smaxtec say if you work with them they’ll work with you in adverse circumstances.
If you are interested in heat detection, monitoring temperature, rumen health, calving they are the go to really. If you’re interested in fairly basic health monitoring and heat detection then collars are a super job.
No Internet needed with boluses is a massive plus. Half of the bother with collars is making sure your Internet routers etc are working right.

How do you make out there's no Internet needed for the bolus? What uploads the info to the controller and in turn the app?
So it'll send the info to the cloud without Internet if or when the cows are in range of the base station. But that info itself can't be transmitted via the app to the drafting gate without Internet anyways so it's not major benefit as such? So the cows would need to be manually drafted so to speak unless Internet is available anyways. I'm not picking at it here, I'm genuinely wondering. Censortec seemed to have the most foolproof method of overcoming losses of Internet etc to me when they called to me. The fact they could draft using the eid tag for example was beneficial if cows lost collars etc.
I couldn’t tell you about the technicalities of the drafting gate. My assumption is 75% of the people with collars will still be manually drafting or not using an automatic link

The couple of places I've seen drafting done with eid tags it's been iffy enough and certainly not without issues. Probably improving all the time but the collars were much better in my experience
We went to Sensehub at the ploughing and told them we’d an issue with the app not giving us alerts. We took collars off cows going to the mart but never unassigned them, we wouldn’t get any alert. We used to previously. Health and heat alerts were coming through fine. Man on stands exact words were we won’t leave yous hanging.
Fast forward to today and I notice a cow missing a collar, no notification and us none the wiser. No activity showing for 6 weeks on the app and no clue where the collar is. Fook em anyway don’t think I’ll be going to them again.

Is your base station not connected to a main computer? Have you updated the app?
No it’s not never was. Just base station to 4g router is all that’s there. App is latest version.
