The auction thread.

That 6290 sounds cheap or else a bit of realism is starting to creep in.
Does VAT and commission get added to the €15k?

If so, add 4 decent tyre's, & a "tidy up" and it's near €30k

If it has no suspension it's on the money at €15k with the work needed

If it needed transmission work it's dear at that money

@c4l said it had new back tyres, i presume this it
A disperal sale is unlikely to have vat

It actually looks a nice 6290 but the pictures don't do it justice.

Then again if it's the basic spec with open center hydraulics (which I think they could be specced with for some reason) and no suspension it won't be in demand.

6290 was was notoriously unreliable?? You’re the first person I have heard say that about that range.
I'm only thinking of a few of that range that were bought new locally by men MF men one was traded at two years old for a JD 6820 and the owner hasn't bought any MF since.
Two 62 series MF tractors were also replaced before they were finished being paid for by Styer 9145 tractors, both of which are still in service with the original owners.
I don't know any more but I do believe the gearbox and back axles were the areas that gave most trouble, I wouldn't know of anyone still working one of them in this area, one 6180 locally as a spraying tractor on 150 acre tillage enterprise.

Gearbox is those is very highly regarded never heard of any back axle issue. 61 series maybe?
It was a 6280 that was traded for a JD 6820, after being split for work on the gearbox twice, ironically the 6170 it replaced was reliable.
A 6290 that was replaced at 3yrs old by a Steyr 9145 had some gearbox issues and bearing on the half shaft fail.

I have never even sat on a 6200 but always heard only good things about them as opposed to the 61’s which seemed to to a more miss than hit range
Sat in a 6290 for a few days last year. A dream to drive, 12k hours and transmission was buttery smooth and it wasn't opened once. What I couldn't understand was there was no suspension but was more comfortable than an 8360 which would be a heavier and longer tractor. Knew of a few 6270-6290s and never gave a spot of bother and if you talk to @kverneland es 80 , I don't think he would part from his 6270 any time soon

105k plus VAT....
I would have said it was value for a tractor, that is no longer available, with 400hrs.
Was the owner selling, or a forced sale?
If it was a different time of year and I could talk to the owner, I would have been bidding.

Genuine retirement sale. All of the machinery would have been looked after to a high standard

Just the "Members Voluntary Liquidation" and the speed of the sale, raised concerns.
Anyway I hadn't time to consider it during a very catchy sowing season.

John was talking about retiring for the last year. His son was not showing any great interest in the business.

20k less than a new 7S 180, so sounds like value, the original owner probably paid around the 105k new, so I’m sure he was happy with the price.
