Revisiting this nearly two months later, sprayed today with Envy there’s a bit of grass in amongst all the other weeds and shit.Seeds put in on April 28th along with lime and 3cwt of 10-10-20.
A woeful month of may for growth and a plague of rabbits have it goosed I think.
Spread 30units of compound on it Saturday in the hope that we get a burst of growth to get it going.
Did he follow the rows of thistles up the field🤠The biggest farm in the west of ireland used to pit tramlines in all his reseeds before he had GPS 🤣
I think grass seed got such a stunting this year, even in ideal growing conditions its struggling. Been a very poor spring for seedingRevisiting this nearly two months later, sprayed today with Envy there’s a bit of grass in amongst all the other weeds and shit.
The rabbits are keeping it well trimmed with no proper burst of growth to get the grass going.
I’ve seen a few more bits put in around the same time and while not as poor as mine they are their well behind where they should be.I think grass seed got such a stunting this year, even in ideal growing conditions its struggling. Been a very poor spring for seeding
Finally left the heifers into it tonight, just about good enough to graze ten weeks laterI’ve seen a few more bits put in around the same time and while not as poor as mine they are their well behind where they should be.
We haven’t got a decent weeks growth here yet.
and how much water did you put on per acre?sprayed off a field with gallop there about a week ago, a bit disappointed, its like its half burnt but still see bits of color, used 4 L per 400 so thought that would be plenty strong enough, maybe its needs another week to completely turn?
It won't be fully dead yet.sprayed off a field with gallop there about a week ago, a bit disappointed, its like its half burnt but still see bits of color, used 4 L per 400 so thought that would be plenty strong enough, maybe its needs another week to completely turn?
4 per 400 is 1 per 100 and you prob put out 70-80 litres per acre of water so that’s only about 1.3/1.4 litres per acre, your far too low, you need 2.25 -2.4 litres per acre. Give it time tho a week is not longsprayed off a field with gallop there about a week ago, a bit disappointed, its like its half burnt but still see bits of color, used 4 L per 400 so thought that would be plenty strong enough, maybe its needs another week to completely turn?
I always use 6 litres a hectare works well.so would have used 1000L water, approx 10L gallup and its about 6 and a bit acres
It’s quite possible you used far too much waterso would have used 1000L water, approx 10L gallup and its about 6 and a bit acres
Agreed, unless you are using very clean rain water, or you condition your water with an additive like Firebrand before adding the Glyphosate, the more water you use with glyphosate the worse it will work. It’s quite possible you used far too much water
Probably the worst land in Ireland, but it's important to me because I can graze milkers on it.I have a bit of ground sprayed off. It's "challenging" land. About 12" plus, of peat over solid channel subsoil .I'm looking for advice on suitable grass seed. I have used heavy land mixes in the past, but I'm not impressed. I'm inclined to go with a single variety .
Willing to try anything.
