I spent afew weeks half looking on donedeal for a 2nd tractor here, likes of a 2nd hand 140hp yoke to take the pressure off the little massey here during silage season etc, but truth be told, very hard to beat this all in service with bales from one of my contractors, bales drawn with a chaser, stacked with double elephant trunk, if I was at it myself I'd be spending the next 6hours slogging away at it.

I dont mind drawing in bales, gets me away from other stuff.

Same in general, but what I enjoy and what makes sense are often different, and for me does sinking 40 or 50k into a 2nd bigger loader tractor actually make sense, probably not for now (I'll still prb waste time dreaming on DD tho ha 😅).

A good contractor is one of the best value bits of manpower you can buy in my opinion.
Without a doubt. I share my work between about 4 contractors. One of them got a unfixable break last night at 6pm with the baler, with about 14ac of silage to go. Rang my other contractor and he said not a hope as at the hurling match, rang the other lad and he said he would be on in an hour.

Any recommendations for the most durable brand of sandbags for a pit? Quick search online is showing me 3 or 4 main brands all for likes of 2.50e per empty bag. I'll be filling with pea gravel.

Secure covers here, seem grand, filled with small sandstone

Few bales made over the weekend, 24 hour wilt, 8 bales to the acre.

Old school machinery still doing its bit.

@johndeere6920s old bale handler made it a lot faster too. Might get the 2 double handlers on the go for next year. Although another tractor with an assister ram will be needed then… 🙄😅

The 7610 is inline for that… a stronger backend that the 3040.

So now in search of a 10 series ford assister ram.
