Todays Photo

This challenge is probably too tough.
I had always wanted to mount fire extinguishers somewhere on the tractor for baling straw but hadn’t settled on where. But then last August while I was baling a neighbours Baler caught fire 2 fields away and I could see the top of the flames and smoke, so made up my mind to sort it for this year.
It still may not be enough to save it but at least I will sleep easier knowing I could try to put it out, God forbid it does light.

Seem to recall reading somewhere that powder based extinguishers can settle over time due to the vibrations of the vehicle.

Good to know. Mine will only be on the tractor for a few days a year as I only bale my own straw. In the shed the rest of the time.

We had refillable extinguishers we used to fill them 3/4 ways up and put air pressure to them. We checked them fairly often and topped up d air pressure. We had d powder extinguishers aswell
The straw contractor I worked for used refillable water fire extinguishers too. But that was back in 2001 so wasn't sure if they were still available.

I have one of that type came with the NH 1905 spfh, saved the machine on one occasion, I had it to hand a few weeks ago when we were welding hardfacing on the drum of the JD, held its pressure for over 25 years, a half cup of fairy liquid in with the water will give a foam that will cling.

When I was younger I used to see a good few of them.....on the way to bed....
I hear ya. I have seen more Sunday morning sunrises than I can remember. We were the furthest point that the bus would travel to so we'd be last brought home from town. Dropped at the end of the road and you'd know that it had been a good night when it took you an hour to walk the half mile home - like walking a figure of 8. Good times!
