Travels

I'm gone poor at taking photos of what I see on my travels.
This winter I will improve that.
We are going to make a book, put a photo of the tractor I have sold and the background story to where it came from.
So many of them have much more of a story than "I bought a tractor in such a place" in this case the tw 20 belong to an old man retiring. Lived in the village and he's farm was in the outskirts . He had a small fabrication business at he's home . Unbelievably tidy man. He bought the tw in 1993
Sat and drew the grain ever since

I love old german buildings . This little village had a huge castle on top of the hill behind it.
If id all the time in the world I'd just drive around and stop and look at things.

If you could keep taking pictures and records your ancestors will appreciate it as will everyone on the forum. Finally you reached the holy Grail

Don't need to go that far to see stones in cages, plenty on the roads in Donegal.

“Gabions” I think they are called, can be got here but the type of stone they are filled with can change the look of them a lot!

The stone in cages are called ‘Gabions’. Used extensively for Force Protection by military Forces in the construction of Operating bases Overseas. UN bases in Lebanon and Syria use them extensively.

Can be lined with hessian and filled with sand, in more sandy/less stony environments.

As @Jay Dee mentioned, they are also used in structural engineering in Europe, predominately along motorways. The cages are not cheap, but if done right can make very decorative industrial walls/boundary fences.
