Tyre Size

In very soft wet ground with the loader off and a large weight on the back the 600's would have an advantage, but in my opinion not enough to justify the new/altered rims needed. Most of the time it is the front wheels that will let down a 6550 with a loader.
The fact that the 600's have more thread might be a factor.
Thanks very much gone.

Lower the pressure of the tyres when working on soft ground . It will make a bigger difference than slightly wider tires . I run at 27 psi for road work and 13 psi for field work and generally look for three lugs on the ground.

Have massey 6480 tier 2 on 20.8x 38s and 18.4x28s on front I think.
Front tyres are down to 10% and rears 25%.
She is going to be our main ploughing tractor from now on as have purchased another 6480 on 650s for sowing.
They are the original good years from new and are on 4500 hours at moment.
Rims need blasting and powder coating with agrigear.
Basically asking what tyre and what brand would lads go for bearing in mind she will be only ploughing, baling or bit of trailer work at harvest time.
I was thinking a 580 70 38 or would that be okay in a 16"furrow width no 8 boards that we normally plough at or stick with 20.8x38
All opinions welcome

I would go 580/70r38's and 480/70r28's, no bother with them ploughing 16" on No.8's
I like Michelin Omnibibs, but they are dear, Kleber, Trelly and Bridgestone VX worth pricing, but some find the Bridgestone lug a bit big for traction on hard ground.
I don't like BKT' 70 series, I think their sidewalls are not near as good and the BKT 65 series.

that interesting as I was going pricing BKT 520/70/38 and 420/70/38, only experience I have has been Onmibibs up to now. Tractor originally came on 540/65/38. Wouldnt ever fit Trelly's again. its all mostly roadwork. anyone fitting Verdistens atm?

Why you not like the trellys? Have them here on another one and find them ok but it's only here since May so maybe a bit early to draw conclusions. Maybe a bit wandery on road alright

They replaced a pair of michelin multibibs that had done 5k front loader hrs. They lasted 1500hrs before one blew up. Trelleborg replaced them only for the new ones to do only 1300hrs.

I was looking at changing the 16.9 38 on a 2wd ford 7610 to 18.4 38. Will the 18.4 fit on the same rim?
It really depends on the rims fitted, your 16.9r38's should be on W15L rims, but some will have been supplied on W14L rims. The rim size should be stamped on the rim.
18.4's will fit on W15L rims, but will be very tight on W14L rims.
If you can't see rim size you should be able to tell by looking at them, if the 16.9's are very square on the rims the 18.4's will fit nicely, but if the 16.9's are a bit pulled in on the rims then the 18.4's will be very tight.

I dont see anything written on the rim bit i measured across the rim at about 15/16 inches. Would this indicate its a W15L rim? Also, the 16.9 look to be good and square on the rim.

Sounds like they are 15" rims.
The 18.4's should fit the finest.

Anyone know if can be done seen another fiat 110/90 done was 600/65R38 on back and 540/65R24 on front I will be getting solid rims made for wider tyres anyways and would like if that would work or do I have to put 480/65R24 on front to match backs

What tyres is the tractor currently on?

Have 600 65 38 on my 11090
420 85 24 for front.agrigear done the ratios.
540 way to wide for the front.harder on front axle and will have less traction.
Im travelling wet leitim ground so if you need 540s up front on a 110 with 600s stay in the shed.
That would be my advice to you anyway as i did consider 480s but told not too

Hey folks, quick question, 160hp 6.5 tonne tractor that will mostly spread slurry, small amount of ploughing (16" furrow) pull trailed silage harvester (trailer pulled behind) pull roller/press on ploughed ground, spread fertilizer in front of drill, act as backup to tractor on drill. This tractor won't do big hours possibly 200 hrs, currently only pulls harvester is an under-utilised older tractor that we need to get more from rather than spend money on a newer machine. It has 18"x38 and 14"x28rims. My options are as far as I understand are 580/70r38 or a 600/65r38 I have heard bad things about the 600's being poor on grassland work any experience?
Just reading back on this now. What did you go for in the end?
