Which gps?

I've a Patchwork Back Box Air.
Works very well. Simple to use. And considerably less money than most at the time. Use it for a lot of jobs!

It's based on an off the sheld Ipad, so their manufacturing costs are low.
How you finding this? Anything ya don’t like about it now you had it awhile?

Had it a few years now.
No complaints really.
It's very basic. I set up a new line each time.
I've the reciever out on the end of the bonnet, I like the ability to do that as we've a lot of trees about.
I think it works a bit better there too.

One thing a lot don't realise is that the 'black box' that comes with it needs to be held down somehow. It has the tilt compensator built in to it, so if it moves it can send the line off.
Mate of mine said his was useless till I asked where he had the box mounted, it was bouncing round beside the seat!!

Set up a new line each time? That mean it doesn’t have the ability to store a field say? Looking to use it to spread fert mainly so don’t exactly want to set up a new line/field each time if that makes sense.

Is that meant to be mounted in the cab?

If your setup a memory card it will save fields, but non fee paying setups will not be accurate enough to store your "A-B" line longterm, so each time you work in a field you have to set a new "A-B" line to work off, but that will be the same with standard GPS.

I have fields and AB lines stored in the John Deere system for 10 years +, the AB lines would sometimes need a nudge of a metre if I wasn't in the field for a while.

I’m guessing the air is a non fee? What sorta fees are we talking?

Just an AB line.
So literally a touch of the screen.
They can be stored I think.
But might need the Air + for that (bit dearer) the basics can be upgraded to it with a code.

The screen and black box are in the cab.
And the reciever out on the bonnet

I should also explain.
my lines can often vary.
Some fields I'll use different hedges depending where I came in. And times of year if it's wet I'll start a different side etc.
Even not following the previous applications line if I made ruts or whatever.
Plus the layout of temporary padocks.
Or even depending on the job at hand.
So not having a pree set line is quite handy For me

i was thinking of getting one for spraying and fertilizer spreading now the land is all up and down a lot of hill any body using bee line but open to suggestions

Looking at which GPS system to pair with a new section controlled bogballe fert speader. Be looking to run the spinner on 10 series John Deere's. Between FJ Dynamics and trimble, anyone have experience which would be best?

Without being smart I think your looking at 2 very different ends of the spectrum there, and I think you may have a better chance of fully integrating the bogballe and the Trimble and be guaranteed backup for when they don’t want to talk to each other

Basically, I'm open to any of the GPS offerings out there and just wondering what one people are using and getting on with.

We have trimble connected to the rauch spinner, works perfect and the lads in vantage are always available if ye get stuck.

Trimble or Deere. FJD seem to have no loyalty to their dealers so in turn probably don’t give a hoot about their end users either.

I'll have another look at the JD system, local dealer wasn't very helpful when he'd lost out on the fert spreader sale.
