Winter Oats 2020

Thanks G for the update.

My view is that if we get a good autumn for sowing then seed will get very tight.
We have allocated all our seed to customers so that they know what is available to them from ourselves.

If weather permits, I expect a big swing back to winter sowing.

I aim for between 10th and 20th of October, if I have to I will extend those dates by 5 days either way.

For a lad not from a tillage background with a passing interest in the agronomy side, what is the issue with sowing a winter crop too early?

It grows very lush and can shoot out early in the Spring. The frost then kills the growing point and it then tillers like mad with loads of weak tillers which might amount to nothing but would be green at harvest
