anyone got any experience with these tractors , we never had zetors while i was growing up but i know a few people who have 9540,s , claimed they were great to pull and only problem was the brakes giving trouble

a mid nineties one is a good bit cheaper than the likes of a 390 T from earlier on

The brakes aren't particularly troublesome on them. Slave and master cylinder leaks and likewise for the clutch, would be occasional but parts are readily available, cheap and easy to fit.A far cry from the previous models that the brakes just didn't work on! Good strong engines, easy started but do need heat when cold.

i think there actually a reasonably decent looking tractor , the cab is not too far behind masseys of that era either , dont know how they compare to the proxima which arrived in the noughties

I don't have one , but my nearest neighbour has a 10540, 1999 . A fine tractor. Massive improvement on previous models . Oil immersed brakes , far better lock on front axle compared to an 8145. 3 stage splitter on the gears. No shuttle . Very gutsy engine, but as said , needs a little heat.

They came out in 92, and the 1 St of them had a 2 stage splitter , and no balancer unit in the engine, rattled themselves apart. Biggest problem could be finding one, as Czechoslavakia was in meltdown during that period. You will still part with €15k + , if a loader is needed on it. Even though , I know a man bought a genuine 4200 hr 8540 for €8000, off farm , a dairy farm , and he reckoned the cab was a worse than where yer mans cows lived .

A proxima wouldn't be the match of it. Proxima is the smaller tractor , newer version of 7211, 6340 etc. Forterra is equivalent of 9540. 9641 would be the newer 9540.
If you come across a 7540E, it is non turbo, but the E part , meant it was a yellow pack, base model , missing spool valves etc. Be the finest , but just lacking a few things.

I had the loan of a proxima for a few hours one morning a good nippy yoke but i could not get comfortable sitting in it ,seemed high up and a bit too far to reach for loader joystick and lift lever.Mind you i did not adjust seat ,did any one else have this problem with them .This proxima with a loader only dry clutch gave a bad battle.

Good summary from jf there.

There are a couple of 9520's around here. Any issues have been summed up above and I think the back window can be an issue too with vibrations.

These would have pulled 18ft tandem axle grain trailers and 3f rev plough with no major pressure on them.

Thanks for the compliment, or is it slagging you are ? I bought an old Ursus 385 off a friend for peanuts, more or less just to see what was what, and it opened my eyes. Sure they have their weak points , but for the money, you can get a lot of work out of one. As regards being an expert, it comes from being around so long!
I couldn't hand the tools to Greendragon ! A gifted family. I have met his brother , father and himself. Sound lads.

I'd say yourself and greendragon are specialists from different perspectives, you as a user and GD as a restorer.

Local landini manager as we do call him, (he has 3 of them), has a forterra 9641 wrapping bales, and even pulls the tanker now and again. He has great praise for it.
